Default So, You want to Create a Skin

I realize that this has been covered before but, as there are more & more people wishing to give this a go I thought a more graphically friendly version was called for.

This tutorial was only possible due to the information already contained within this forum. Credit must go to William516 for creating the original tutorial and Timetraveller for building the excellent tools that makes this possible.

This is a WIP and as such a few people have been PM'd earlier to try it out, but I would like as many as possible viewing it so that any mistakes or suggestions can be put in the final version. I want to make it as easy as possible for anyone to follow.

Ladies & Gent's may I present the, All singing, All Dancing & Now with Pretty Pictures...

Sub Skinning 101(Word Format)

Sub Skinning 101(PDF Format)

All feedback is welcome.

There is a HUGE error in this tutorial .

It appears that in the example of the IXC skin within the tutorial, I said that the one file we were editing would complete the external skin of this boat.

This is not the case and as such I have withdrawn the download link until I can make the proper changes and give you a complete tutorial.

I'm sorry to the 108 of you who have downloaded this.

Dan

I've only used GIMP once, however, the basics are the same. It's a pretty standard picture editing process.

Is anyone else having trouble opening the SH3 Unpacker_Build143 Zip file? I have DL it 5 - 6 times now and when i go to open it with winrar i get errors: Cannot execute C:\documents\admin\locals\temp\setup.exe.
When i try to extract it to a folder nothing happens. I then try opening it with WinZip yet windows comes up telling me it has blocked this file for friggin!security reasons when i go to the link it provides below message "How do i unblock this file" the friggin page cannot be found error comes up!!!! HELP! I hate windows!

Get 7-Zip....
http://www.7-zip.org/

Should solve your problem.

Edit - Just tested it, works fine.

Edit Edit - Are you just double clicking on the archive to extract it to the temp folder? Try the Extract To...... option, this should then create a folder with the setup installer in it.

Thanks for that, but nope it still wont work. But i just notice why. I just tried another DL of the file, I have dialup and i notice when i DL this file it starts the DL at 47%, yet being dialup it should start at 1% not jump to 47% straight away. Unless other dialup users are having the same problem then this file cannot be DL. Otherwise my internet is playing up and might leave the DL alone for a day or two and try it again.
