Lifeboats in SH4, so maybe time for SH3 ??

Hi all,

I've been spending time with SH4 on-and off since I received the Collector's Edition, but for me SH3 is still tops. But one thing I've been considering is the 'morality issue' of lifeboats not implemented for SH3.

Now that they are in SH4, perhaps its about time they did appear? - Perhaps in GWX 1.04 ??

I was always in favour of them - they can always be modded to be indestructible for example.

Several modders have made them, but they have never been part of a 'product' so to speak, perhaps that should change now in light of their addition to SH4?

Anyway, just my thoughts.....

Modders have tried making lifeboats for SH3; the best anyone could do was converting a 'debris' file, which made a boat but it then disappeared with the rest of the boxes.

We're all hoping that when SH4 is done and fixed they will then do an upgrade for SH3, with the transparent water, crews walking around ships and, yes, lifeboats.

Actually, there is a way to trigger a lifeboat that will not sink with debris.
And it would only disappear if you left the area.
Could even be made so you could blow the crap outta it.

The reason the debris dissapear so fast is that it has a high crush speed value and it has no hydro controller, changing the DM and adding a controller so they behave like ships should do the trick.

Steve,

Since then, the knowledge about the game was significantly improved. There are actually a few ways it can be done. A while ago, I returned to the lifeboat problem and picked a solution which is not connected to debris. It is actually possible to use different types of lifeboats and animated survivors for spawning upon ship sinkings. Below is an example (the guy in the lifeboat is actually with animations).

Indeed. Each mod has a download link there except for the lifeboat one. I think it's been photoshopped to tease us.
