Default Ammo date file ?

Hi Kaleuns,
Can anyone point me to the correct path to modify the ammo quantities for the deck gun (in vanilla SH3), Please. (This is for a IXB)

Thanks in advance,
... and Happy Hunting

Hi Capn Mike I can help!

First things first make a back up copy of the
"Basic cfg" file prior to making any changes.

What you need to do depends how far you want to go though.

there is a limited amt of ammo storage on board the sub
so

Open C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data\Cfg
then double click on the file called basic cfg.

it is a text file that should open with note or wordpad.
approximately 55% or so of the way down the page
you will see this

[SUBMARINE_AMMO6];IXB
Type=2
Version=0
ForeTubes=4
AftTubes=2
ForeResIntern=4
ForeResExtern=5
ForeResExtra=2
AftResIntern=2
AftResExtern=2
ShellSlots=12
NbYears=7
Renown=7
SNK_MASK=NSS_Uboattype9_SNK_mask

where it says shellslots you can increase it by a few but if you
add to many your game will run fine but if you open up the
"ammunition status screen" while in game then it will ctd.
but will other wise work fine but I dont use more than 24 normally.
also excessive ammo even in the slots you have may ctd when
viewing the ammo status screen, but again just dont open the
ammo status and all will work fine.

now next.

about 80% of the way down the page you will see this entry
this iis the ammount of ammo each of the slots you made will
hold.

[SUBMARINE_AMMOLIMITS1] ;105mm
MaxAmmoPerSlot=9999

[SUBMARINE_AMMOLIMITS2] ;88mm
MaxAmmoPerSlot=9999

[SUBMARINE_AMMOLIMITS3] ;37mm
MaxAmmoPerSlot=9999

[SUBMARINE_AMMOLIMITS4] ;20mm
MaxAmmoPerSlot=9999

ooops that ones mine not a standard yours will
have significantly fewer shells but you get the gist
from what appears here.

Just a little further down you will see
this. This defines how much of each type
and what types of ammo are alloted for each
weapon type
(again you will have significantly smaller amounts when you open
up your own copy of basic cfg)

Default Thanks MM

Hi Mush,
Thanx a heck of a lot for your very rapid help - and your time to type all that for me!
Found the files, made back-up, and upped the slots and quantities by 50% so that I have enough for a tanker-bash south of Florida!

Really appreciate the effort you made. I'm running this on an Intel iMac, and have no previous expereince of a Windows machine at all - so some of these things are new to me!

Now gonna' go and try it.
Happy Hunting....

I made some changes the other day in order to get some AP shells for the deck gun. When using the deck gun, shells show up, (right number of shells I entered), but they still say HE and if I click on it to change to next one (which should be HE), it changes, but can not go back to the previous one.

Any ideas?
