Default SH3 has stopped working - wrong mod order?

After several months I wanted to play SH3/GWX again. Unfortunately, the game crashed at the loading screen for the first patrol of my (via SH3 Commander) newly set up Kaleu.

Before I reinstall everything I thought it might just be my mod order causing a problem. Would you have a look at it?

GWX - Open Hatch Mod
M.E.P v3

Merchant_Fleet_Mod_3.2
GWX - Axis Mediterranean Aircraft Skins

Supplement to V16A3 (JSGME)

Edit: When searching again, I found the post of someone with the same problem - obviously it's the Merchant Fleet Mod. Deactivating it let's me start a career, hopefully I can find a way to get it running again.

I don't recall if the water disturbance issue was ever resolved?

You'd need to remove that and start over if it wasn't.

It's so difficult to know why SH3 crashes when it is heavily modded.

First of all, you don't need "GWX - 16km Atmosphere" because you have "M.E.P v3" which is a 20km environment.

See my recent crash to desktop problem here, you might be able to fix your own:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=190550

Ah, one more thing: don't change the placement of your crew before a patrol inside SH3 when you already validated changes outside of SH3 (through SHCommander or manually). I fixed a crash like this.

If you have external backup drives, always make a backup of your last configuration that worked for you (Sh3 document, ShCom, SH3 game folder). If your newest game configuration does not work for whatever reason (god knows you can have a bunch of them ), you can still paste back the older files.

Someone else on this forum might be a better help than me though...

Thanks for the help, guys! I'll check the Water disturbance thread. Also, thanks for pointing out the useless 16km-Atmo in there.

My problem was the Merchant Fleet Mod. Before starting with my month old SH3, I applied the latest exe fixes by h.sie - but I forgot to tick the 4GB-Patch-Option for 64bit machines. This obviously made my game run on not enough RAM.

But may I say this: After those months it's great to see this community as helpful and friendly as it's always been!
