Hello.
AMC ships are ' Armed Merchant Cruise '
as far as i remember when using the hydrophone, you get a blue line indicated a warship type for this ship. but that applies only for this mission at Blockade of Germany. in all other campaigns, AMC ships are treated as a merchant ship where you will see a black line when using hyrophone. i guess you can see her at game museum. do this so you can spot it more easily at campaign.

This what you are looking for...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Rawalpindi

There is a near-identical non-military version that will not count towards the objective. You can tell them apart by looking for a large gun on the forward deck. No gun = let it go. Your objective is armed and hostile. It will return fire so be careful.

Hint... Lock Ewe is a good place to hang out. Be patient.

I've got two out of five so far..

I think there were a couple of armed ones hanging out in Scarpa flo, I noticed when I went in and sank the queen elizabeth (which magically respawned on top of it's self!! almost sunk it again but thought I ought to leave, despite the fact the escorts didn't even bother to try looking for me!

I'll try Loch Ewe, once I've looked up where it is!

Are you using any mods for AI? if not please try this. Stock AI is so dumb , it is gonna ruin your campaign.

I have that now..

I didn't when I went into scrapa flo.. but when I went into loch ewe i did... I sunk 2 AMC and none of the 'sleeping' escorts woke up.

I save and surfaced... the parked merchants opened fire, but only one destoryer botherd to come near me!

I also managed to destory a battleship beign escorted by 6 or 8 destroyers... none of them ever got close to finding me... maybe it's cos I'm still in 39?

Not sure that mod is working... i got lazy and to get the next amc I went back into loch ewe... I had only 2 rear fish left, fired one.. reloaded. fired two... almost sunk here... there was a mist so I thought to risk it... pulled away to about 3000 meters, surfaced and finished her with the deck gun..

still no one came looking for me.. :S
