The Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence filed the lawsuit on behalf of Sandy and Lonnie Phillips, whose daughter Jessica Ghawi was shot and killed in the attack that left 12 dead and dozens wounded.

The lawsuit alleges that Lucky Gunner, the Sportman's Guide, BulletProofBodyArmorHQ.com and BTP Arms negligently supplied Holmes.

"A crazed, homicidal killer should not be able to amass a military arsenal, without showing his face or answering a single question, with the simple click of a mouse," said a statement released by the Brady Center. "If businesses choose to sell military-grade equipment online, they must screen purchasers to prevent arming people like James Holmes."

And how, pray tell, is an online distributor supposed to identify someone as a "crazed, homicidal killer" prior to the sale?? Is there an app for that?

I am sure that the purpose of this lawsuit is to protect the safety of the public and not either financially (deep pockets) or politically (Brady center) motivated. That would be wrong.

Next we are gonna sue libraries if they lend a book to someone and that someone goes out and kills people.

He or she might have gotten ideas from the book. GUILTY!

I think the family should sue the gas station for selling gas to this criminal. If the criminal did not have gas, he could not have driven to the theater, therefore saving all those people.

How could that gas station sell gas to a "crazed, homicidal killer"? GUILTY pay us!

I have always heard that USA was the country of the free and for the free, but I didn't knew it was that free

that you just put an online order on some ammo and the next day or so, the postman deliverer it to you or you get it at your local post office.

Here in Denmark and in Sweden there are regulations.

I don't know every rules I just know that you just can't put an order on some ammo.
