Default War games using Google Earth?

Just thinking, since Google Earth accepts plugins and there are games that use it as their engine already, could it be possible for skilled developers to make a proper strategy game using GE as a 'background'? GE already models elevation and water, it 'knows' where roads run, and it should be fairly easy for game developers or end users to designate areas as forests, marshes, etc.

I'm trying to get into War2Map, but it looks really simplistic and I haven't been able to get it to work. Then there's an MMO of sorts I can't remember the name of. Are there any other projects?
