Offical Subsim Meet Itinerary - Please read.
Mods please sticky this:
WED/THURSDAY The attendees who are arriving via commercial airline should fly into Boston’s Logan International Airport. PM me your flight information and i'll arrange to meet you at the terminal. We'll work out some way of identifying each other. Maybe i'll make up a SUBSIM sign or something like that. Those arriving by car or who plan on getting their own ground transportation should go directly to the hotel in Waterford and check in where the rest of us will meet up with you sometime in the late afternoon/early evening. Nikimcbee and Subnuts should be already there to greet you when you arrive. Once those who are flying/bussing in have all arrived in we'll go to my place and hook up with Ivank and anyone else who's waiting there and then head down to Waterford in a convoy. FRIDAY Breakfast at local diner (TBD) Sonalysts Studios 0900 to 1200 Presentation: Advanced simulation modeling in sub games. I think we could fit an hour or two aboard the Salem without much trouble. Since the Battleship Cove sleepover is off, we won't be spending any additional time Sunday morning exploring the exhibits. Also, the Cassin Young is in drydock now, so that's some more time freed up there. It's not like I'm going to be crying if we can't see the Salem - after eight hours at BB Cove, you probably won't want to see another bulkhead or hand valve for a week. Still, the ship is in excellent condition and is more open than any of the Fall River Navy...it might have to come down to a coin toss.

I'm game. Especially since by staying the last night at my place just down the road from Battleship cove we're not loosing any time by having to drive all the way back from New London.

Hopefully we can confirm whether or not we'll be visiting the Salem fairly soon. The museum's website strongly recommends calling in advance if more than 10 people are attending, so they can best accommodate the group. Apparently, large portions of the ship are off-limits without a tour guide. I'd like to confirm (at least) a couple weeks in advance, and perhaps make the call myself, since I haven't really been actively participating in meet planning.

I checked with the community liason at the New London Navy Base this morning, she told me there was a "posture" change three weeks ago and they currently do not allow the public to the lower base.
So, that means we cannot visit the base and the subs.

For the Sonalysts tour, I need real names for the following:
Sledgehammer (is that you, Owen?) For the foreign nationals we’ll need to know country of citizenship, job title, and company/organization. Please email subsim@gmail.com ASAP with that info. Neal

My uncle Rudy (who retired from the Navy Medical Service Corps in 1995) took me on a driving tour of the submarine base in 2007, after a fish fry at the Chief Petty Officer's lounge. Too bad about the recent posture change, because I wanted to show everyone the Narwhal's six-inch guns pointed at the base's Subway restaurant! Since anyone can just watch submarines coming and going from across the Thames, it doesn't surprise me that they'd be concerned about security.
