Default Roll and Pitch, with a bit of splash.

Found this on YouTube:-

It brings back memories of Cape Horn on a good day!!!!

Oh to get this effect in SH3

I have been playing around with the following re ship behavior:-

C of G - making it higher than the draught so that the ship becomes tender - comes to upright very slowly - too much and it capsizes. Where the C of G is set on most models at the moment makes the ship act "stiff", like a boat in a bath).

The drag which I think slows the rate of pitch and the roll and the

fr_ratio which I'm not sure does an awful lot (anyone know?)

Anyone know anything about the weather module ( where is it ???). It would be nice to get wind streaks on the waves. I had to increase wind speed to 300 kph in a mission to get some decent rolls and pitches from Bismark, Gneisenau and their pals, but the sea still looked calm compared with this video.

Also water stream on surface ships - Rubini did an awful lot of work on water streams on the subs, anyone think this is possible on surface ships? Where would you start looking etc etc?

Food for thought - or a non starter?

Regards.

Possible is almost everything.
You just need training, a target, motivation and much time.
Have a look here: http://war-ace-campaign.webnode.at/n...r-player-subs/

This is also possible for ships but unfortunately they get damage once they are partly under water.

For bigger waves have a look into the scene.dat file and work at the wind properties. I think the y value is responsible for the height.

Thanks for the quick response HanSolo78

The waterstream from the sub is very good in the video (and screenshots), although I still think the motion is wrong - the sub plows in and then the stern appears to come out first - as if lifted by a following sea - followed by the bow raising? I have found that by increasing the draught of the sub slightly (5.5 to 6.0m) reduces this effect, but also reduces the speed. However it also increases the amount of "wetness" around and on the sub. This is what I would like to achieve with surface ships.
I have, for example, got Bismark rolling with water coming onto the deck amidships - but no spray etc. With a 300 kph wind I almost get the bow going under, but not quite.

By today's standards Bismark was quite a lightweight - I have been on a 250,000 tonne ship that rolled and pitched like a pig (bit of free-surface effect thrown in but never mind) - it ploughed happily into the sea with most of the foredeck invisible through the spray. That's what I would like to see ships do in SH3 - perhaps a day dream.

I'll look into the scene.dat and see what I can break.

Training and time are always the problem.

Regards,
MLF

In any case keep in mind that this video is a fiction! Aircraft/helos don't use to fly in the middle of a hurricane!
