Default Wolfpacks

I'm having a little confusion about the Wolfpacks existence in the game. I was having radio messages two times and the other U-boat wrote me : Requesting bearing signal from contact keeper.

After that a completely different U-boat wrote me this:

Bacon signals lies in the line of approach according to dead reckoning. Attacking far side of the convoy.

I know what these means but don't have the faintest idea about how can I interact with other subs, because as far as I know I can just send reports home like contact reports, weather reports, status reports. So what are these exactly ? Has any mod implemented the working wolfpack system successfully ?

Because I have met several times with other U boats and always received these messages but I didn't know what to do. Because I couldn't find any crew orders according to these.

i just sent a contact report on a 'convoy' i picked up with hydro and a single merchant coming the other way. i got spammed with messages from other boats and i spotted 2 uboats closing in on the reported hydro convoy contact. sank the single freighter myself then caught up with the convoy again...

got messages from the other boats, they said they spotted the convoy and attacked from the far side and stuff.
it was all very exciting until my sonar guy said i was right in the middle of the convoy. it was a dark night but i still couldnt see anything. did a little listening personally and found that i was in the middle of biologicals. whales, i think. awesome sounds and quite spooky, actually.

but now i am wondering if my comrade kaleuns seriously spent that night killing whales with their precious torpedoes... or are those radio messages all just fluff?
