Default I'm sorry didn't mean to spam but my ETW campaign ahs stopped working

I've reinstalled my Vista and reinstaleld ETW(Empire total war). Just last night I was able to play the campaign as the Spanish just fine. However today whenever I tried to get into campaign ETW would crash. I could enter the tutorial just fine.

Can anybody help me on this. Reinstalling ETW didn't help.

Talk about having bad days...PC crashed from time to time, Vista disc cracked, Now ETW campaign is inaccessible.

I'm assuming your running on Vista, if so are you running ETW as administrator?

If you aren't, try running it as one, if you are, try adding ETW to the list of DEP excused programs. Vista closes games that take up alot of data as a security measure, which can sometimes block games when they take a lot of data. To add ETW, go into your start menu, right click on computer, click properties, in the new window that opens up click advanced settings. Click the Advanced tab, and then under performance, the settings button. Go to the Data Execution Prevention, and click Turn on DEP for all programs except those I select. Click ADD and then locate the ETW exe in your ETW folder. If this doesn't work, I dont know what to do.

Hey thanks Spike will try that.

I just realized I posted this thread in the wrong forum. Could the mod kindly move this thread to 'other games'?

It is the software forum, and since its talking about troubleshooting, I think it belongs in here.

following your advice it didn't work but because of your advice I tried playing the game with my admin account and it worked!!!

But I don't use the admin account for my day-today use.

This steam is really annoying.

I've added empire.exe to COMODO buffer overflow detection exclusion too but ETW won't allow me playing as standard user for whatever reason. It was fine just last night.

Now with online mode steam is syaing that this game is currently unavailable though the game status is listed as 100% Ready. Unselecting run as admin solved this problem but I still can't play the game in standard account.

CA please divorce steam ASAP

Hmm somebody posted a solution in TW center forum.

Load a saved game changed the battle limit time in gameplay setting back to one hour. Exit to main menu now starting a new campaign no longer produces CTD.
