ACTUV Deployment
Ahoy, Skippers!
I think I have a serious question. ACTUV seems to be a innovative vehicle in the navy, but the deployment would be a serious problem. Considering its size and weight, 19m long and 10m high, 150ton, it's too big and heavy for small ships like MCM Avenger, which would be ideal for ASW drone mother ship. And it's too small for large LSD to deploy, you can't imagine the navy need extra LSD for the deployment. Also, if it's airborne, can the structure and system handle the shock by impact to sea surface. One possible method is tow the drone, or directly from the port, however, it's not very convenient nor economic. Do you have any idea? Cheers |
