Default Looking for 'wooden ship' movies

Having recently gotten into Empire Total War has re-peaked my interest in wooden ship battles of the 1700's era.

I of course know of Master & Commander but was wondering if there was any other movies / series that may be worth looking into.

Thanks in advance.

There are quite a few films that feature fighting sailing vessels, but most of them are of the pirate ship genre. There was a television series from, I beleive, the BBC titled "I Remember Nelson" that covered the carrer of Lord Admiral Nelson. You might also want to look into the major motion pictue version of "Horatio Hornblower" that starred Gregory Peck or the television series of the same name that is quite superior to the movie version. There is also the movie "John Paul Jones" about the American naval hero during the Revolutionary War starring Robert Stack. With the exception of "John Paul Jones", the other films are available on DVD and the TV series "Horatio Hornblower" is also available as a box set. This is all from the top of my head, so if I can recall any other films I will post them later.

1993 Made-for-TV imitation of Dead Calm, with Kate Jackson. Very lame. It cost me $1.07 to rent this, and it was still too much.

There was also a sort of Mini-Series called just "Hornblower" that wasn't too awful. There were 8, 1hr episodes between '98 and '03.
