USS Pompano (SS-181) out of Pearl Harbor on her second patrol to sink enemy shipping in the Kii Suido area for ten days.

Spotted two maru on an estimated course of 238° at a speed of nine knots. The position was Long 134° 59' E. Lat 33° 10' N. or 42.8 nm, 190° from the town of Gobo, Japan.

The weather at the time of the observation was partial clouds with no rain or fog and the wind speed was one-meter per second from a direction of 282°.

The convey contained two merchant ships no escorts. The leading ship was a Large Composite Freighter, which was acting normally in the seas. The trailing ship was identified as a Medium Modern Composite Freighter which was rolling from starboard to port with an estimated list of thirty degrees.

I just perform a clean install of the Wolves of Pacific recently.

Thanks for the report. Excellent details. Investigating now. My suspicion is that they were "navigating" across a bit of shallows somewhere near you as they spawned... I'll post back if I can find them.

Edit: OK, 41a_Jap_Merchants layer has two suspects, and the "Here" note designates approximately where you reported yourself. If I'm incorrect in that, let me know. But I did find RGG (Random Generated Group) 41a_Jap_Merchant_085 has a hard right-hand turn, close to 90° at WP 1, which can contribute to issues such as you describe, however, their "track" is further away from you, and that is the only issue.

btw, the group to the right side has a TroopShip that spawns in it, so is not a suspect. Not on the screen showing its origination point is RGG 41a_Jap_Merchant_001, which has a 120° turn to navigate through the straits just above and out of that image. Also a potential contribution. However, probably the main cause is an invalid "Speed" setting at a couple of the WayPoints near your location. We recently altered some of the ships for more "realistic" speeds and sonar sounding on the sub's hydrophone, which resulted in altered top speeds of the ships. This group has some 10 knot settings at WayPoints, whereas the "GENERIC Freighter" is only capable of a 9.6 knot speed. "He tried to keep up, but his poor little legs finally just gave out." It's trying to keep up, but can't, hence possibly causing the "bad" spawn. Here's the fix:

Additionally, the neighboring "speeds" at the WayPoints have been set to "compliant" speeds. I will have to find my script for finding "invalid" speeds and run it on ~all~ the files in the game apparently. I thought the changes only affected the capital ships, but apparently not... Thanks again for the details you provided Larrywb57. Took me right to the spot!
