Nodes

I am revamping the two gunboats from stock . Already have passive and active sonar enabled and it reclassified as a type 0(patrol) craft. Trying to place depth charges on stern,. Problem is I don't know which node is the stern, I want to remove the stern gun and add a depth charge rack. There may be other things involved. Difficult without a visual reference.

Anyone ?

These will be great for coastal patrol/escort duties. One similar gunboat Karatsu(ex uss luzon) sunk the USS Cisco in 1943.

Doesn't the model & nodes show if you open the gunboat dat file in S3D?

Pardon me if I don't understand...

I see the nodes in .dat but no visual showing where are located on the model.

They're on one of those buttons, toward the middle of the Model Preview window. Looking at mine right now with a Gato Turm loaded, and you have "Toggle Origins", which is the one you'll likely want, next to the "half moon" Brightness / Contrast control. As you click on one of the "dots" on the drawing, it'll open the menu to the node, or if you click on one of the Node items in the list, it'll highlight where it is on the drawing... ??

-> press Model preview -> enable diffuse map (not necessary but usually makes the node origins easier visible) -> toggle origins

Ok,

Open the Dat file you need to edit..

Look on the left hand side and open 00 Node - XXXX <--> Normally the unit or dat name and click.

Look down the left menu for the node reference you want to edit or change..

ETR3(33) has a brilliant guide to node references here!!!

Once you have found the Node that you need to change - select the arrow to the left.

Then select the text opposite the arrow..

On your right you will see three area's...

Node positioning / Linked 3D model / Model preview

I normally click the arrow to the right of Linked 3d, to give me more space to work with.

Then click the "model preview" text..

This will show the 3D model and will also show you where the object is, it will have three lines coming from the central point.

Red - Blue - Green - Make sure the green line is facing the correct way you want your Node to face.

To re-posistion the Node, use the Node posistioning arrows.

I have the same version.

Forget the top part - it was a bad example...

When you open the dat, you will see for example 5: Node - xxxxxx [unit name]
it'a normally the same name as the dat.

click the arrow to the left of this text.

This will open a left handed menu with a lot of node points..
