Thanks mate.

Just reviewed the thread from the start and have the VIIC Revell model...semi assembled... glaring at me from my man-cave shelf! I'll be hard pressed by your excellent example and superb paint work. Thanks for reopening this thread. This is my first sub so I'm a little nervous. :salute:

Thanks for nice comments.
Aktungbby- just go for it. I realised, if you don't try it, you wont learn.
I actually finished another sub before starting work on this type VII again. It sat on the shelf of doom for 3 years. I gather it was for the better. I done some models in the meanwhile to polish my techniques.
It happened some were actually quiet good, and won me numerous awards on the model shows. Some were widely published in the modeling press.
The time has come to finish what i started 6 years ago- i know some people were waiting for it to happened, some lost faith, some were just glad it never happened. So for them, and myself i'm on the mission to put the closure on it.
Some of my models from the time i stopped working on the boot: http://mastermodels.blogspot.com/2009/05/sea-foam.html

Hope you like 'em. :)

Finished chipping her. I'm awaiting the delivery of the Kriegsmarine flag printed in fine cotton. Once on the boat i will make the final pictures. Anyway- after almost 6 years she is done.
Enjoy:

Remarkable build and I'm glad you came back to show the finished model. I'm in complete awe. Want to hazard a guess at how many hours you spent on it?

Siara 03-12-14 11:47 PM

I estimate the hours at about 500.

nikimcbee 03-16-14 01:00 PM

So how much do you think you spent on building the kit, with all the extras?

Hi Siara;
I'm an Italian modeler; I'm building the Trumpeter's U552.
I'm very interested at your model, but all the photos of your work on this site are not still available....
Do you have a photographic folder of the photos you made during the building?
If you contact me ( filippo@saracostruzioni.eu ), it will be possible to arrange a way to resolve the question....
Anyway, thanks in advance compliments for oyur model.
Filippo

Great job on recreating a worn and tired warrior in the U boat you put together. This boat looks like it just came in from a long patrol. It's obvious you put a lot of time into this and hard to imagine a better job and example of a war weary U boat. Might this be a recreation of U-552 commanded by Erich Topp ?

Congratulations on such exemplary work. :Kaleun_Thumbs_Up:
