This mod for Silent Hunter III replaces the ingame uniforms of your crew by new ones, mainly private casual clothing, not military battledresses. If you are tired of looking at those same boring fashionless German wartime uniforms, then this mod might be for you.

Up here we see two pictures courtesy of U-boat.net website that German U-boatcrews were a bunch apart.
General questions and answers:
------------------------------
Q: Is this mod an update from version 1 ?
A: No, It isn't. backup those files if you want to keep using them.
Q: Will there be another update after this one ?
A: Who knows, but I don't plan to do any updates or changes anytime soon. So no.
Q: Is the mod JSGME compliant ?
A: Yes It is, but not out of the box.
Q: Why not ?
A: I could make it that way, but then you wouldn't have full control over the stuff you will see ingame. I leave the choice up to you, therefore you will need to overwrite some (dummy) files, and copy that folder into the MODS folder of JSGME and enable it.
Q: Grrr I hate reading manuals, ok so how do I install it ?
A: And I don't particularly enjoy writing them, just follow the simple steps below and everything should be working fine in no time, after all this is not rocket science.
Q: SH 3 crashes on startup after installing your mod, what should I do ?
A: Disable the mod through JSGME, delete the Men@work folder and start again.
Q: Can I hold you responsible if your mod screws up my PC ?
A: You wish !
What's in the mod ?
-------------------
A collection of 18 different but pretty similar everyday clothing garments to change the atmosphere aboard your U-boat, but not too extravagant in order to keep the same harmony as before. Too bad these guys were not in for a smile when photographs were taken.
- 1 easter egg, It's the season right ? N°19 under specials install and see. Now scroll down and see what the collection is all about.
That's it, Enjoy.
Installation procedure through JSGME will take about 2 minutes tops!:
a) OK, Before we start, a little orientation:
---------------------------------------------
-There should be 2 Folders in the installation folder after extraction:
- folder wardrobe
- folder Men@Work'
The wardrobe folder contains all the clothes you can choose from in 5 browsable categories: This is the folder you will copy files FROM
-The Men@Work folder contains the necessary folder structure and DUMMY files to overwrite and will be activated through JSGME. This is the folder you will be copying things TO.
The folders in Men@work
OFF_TGA
POS_TGA
both contain 10 DUMMY files named 01_OFF_Body01_D.tga, 02_OFF_Body01_D.tga, etc... to 09_OFF_Body01_D.tga. These files do NOT CONTAIN GAME DATA, they are 1kb in size, and are meant to be overwritten by the files you copy FROM the 'wardrobe' folder.
They are just there so you know what the names of the files should be. BEFORE activating the mod through JSGME, make sure ALL DUMMY (1kb) files are either OVERWRITTEN or DELETED!
b) Installation and activation in 5 easy steps.
-----------------------------------------------
- 1: As an example, I choose to activate G4 (wardrobe/greenshirt/G4.tga).
- 2: I copy the file 'G4.tga' to the Men@Work/data/Crew/Body/Body01/OFF_TGA folder.
(alternatively you can copy the tga file to the POS_TGA folder, the shirt will just be worn by a different sailor that's all.)
- 3: I rename the freshly copied file G4.tga to 01_OFF_Body01_D.tga, replacing the dummy file in the 1st position.
(alternatively I could have chosen a different name such as 02_OFF_Body01_D.tga, again, a different sailor would wear it.)
- 4: I DELETE all remaining DUMMY files in both the OFF_TGA and POS_TGA folder, that means all files that are 1 kb in size, as I only want to activate 1 shirt.
- 5: I copy the Men@work folder to the MODS folder in my SH3 installation and activate it through JSGME, like any other mod.
Enjoy
ADDENDUM:
Vickers03 was so nice to post on the forum how to reduce the 'shine' when viewing the files from certain angles, I just put it in the readme as a reference:
Again make a backup of the relevant files to be sure:

at least i know a way to reduce it.
check the interior CR*.dat, e.g. 'NSS_Uboat7_CR.dat'
and search for the nodes '1341:Node - DMY_Soclu_CH'
to '1371:Node - DMY_Soclu_WP'. looking into them,
you'll find 'ConfigureBumpMap', now check their properties for 'ParallelScale = ' and reduce this value.
use silent 3ditor by skwas to alter the dat file.
