this is a small mod that replaces the last 17 entries of the merchant section of the GWX recognition manual with pages showing a mast height from 18m to 38m (see screenshot). In addition, the mast height of the corresponding ships has been changed in the cfg files.
The purpose of this mod is to allow the player to quickly enter any desired mast height in the stadimeter (from 18-30m in 1m steps and from 30-38m in 2m steps). Thus, if a ship's mast height is known (e.g., from a printed manual) the player does not have to go through the whole recognition manual (especially nice if you are using the Merchant Fleet Mod). Just by pressing the 'back' button one can quickly enter the desired mast height (max. 17 clicks required).
As a drawback, the recognition manual and stadimeter cannot be used anymore for the last 17 ships. However, these are all small ships which are hardly (if ever) attacked with torpedoes.
The only values changed in the cfg files are the mast height.
Players who are using SH3 Commander can copy the following lines to their SH3 Commander\Cfg\Static settings.cfg file in order to replace the ships' names with generic mast heigt entries:
The names can also be changed directly in the player's EnglishNames.cfg (GermanNames.cfg) file. Since these files differ for many players, I have not included a modified EnglishNames.cfg (GermanNames.cfg) file.
This mod is made for GWX, however, the basic idea can be easily used in other mods.
The mod is jsgme-ready.
Use on your own risk.
Cheers, LGN1
