German Type 205 Submarine for Silent Hunter IV
(beta 0.3B)

Hy guys. This is my first posting in this forum.

This is my first PC-game mod, the German Type 205 Submarine for Silent Hunter IV (
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/U-Boot-Klasse_205 ). It was designed and tested on an un-modified version of Silent Hunter IV v.1.5 (with U-Boat missions). My advice is to remove all mods and test it on a clean installation of SHIV (it should work with other mods installed, but since I can not test all the combinations of mods presently available on the web, I take no responsability if it crashes you SH4 installation).

Installation
============
Install it with JSGME as you would do with any other sub presently available. For those of you not having the U-Boot Missions addon, I am including a tweak in the "Notes" section below. Be sure to READ it and APPLY it!!!

Uninstallation
==============
Use the remove mod feature from JSGME.

Notes on v. beta 0.1:

- you can play campaigns with this sub.
- weapons are free, but start your career with some money, otherwise you can not re-equip with new weapons after removing some (bug!?);
- the sub is equipped by default with (2xMk-48 + 4xMk-16) in the launch tubes + full complement of zero Mk-48 in the magazine;
- to extend the radar mast press "Shift" + "X"; press again to retract it; use it at periscope depth before surfacing
- diving depth of the sub up to 250 m - max;
- torpedo launch depth up to 250 m - max;
- max speed 12 knots (surfaced), 17 knots (submerged);

- caustic map now appear correct on submarines hull (I've had to do some changes in 3dsmax)

Very nice progress on this Type205

I have been playing the Evacuation Patrol on Hard Difficulty for 2 days now.

With that noted the following feedback is what I have to offer:
  1. I make the assumption the Type205 is a SSN class sub.
  2. Was this boat really this slow?
  3. The Data\Menu\menu.txt is in German. I renamed both the menu.txt and the menu_1024_768.ini before installing.
  4. Battery Life drastically limits submerged Time/Speed. Sugmerged time should be limited by Oxygen Supply for a SSN of this era.

    - I enabled the Walther Turbine to increase submerged time and help keep the realistic feel of a SSN Boat of this era.

    - I increased Deisel and Turbine ranges to 1 Mil Km's
  5. Command Center Crew Leader's are defined/populated in crew management but missing from Command Room Interior_Fore_Camera view - all watches.
  6. Missing Sensor's Crew Member's.

    - Added 2nd Crew member to Sensor's so there is a Sonar and Radio Crew Member for each watch.
  7. Deleted all unused and commented Crew difinitions form the Type205.upcge.
  8. Deleted Deck Guns, Flak Guns, AA Guns and associated Ammo Bunkers from Type205.upcge as they are not used.
  9. Added 14 Crew Bunk's, Populated 3 bunk's -Type205.upcge.
  10. On a smooth calm sea, the boat's wake starts about 20 yards in front of the boats bow.

Truly an amazin boat! The textures are perfect.
I have a few issues with the boat.

In carreermode there is only one mission repeating after finishing it, the next mission you get is still the reconnaissance mission in Australia. Is it possible to start a real carreer with this boat? Also in Operation Monsoon.

Also the crew on the tower is missing.

And is it possible to have the boat loaded with spare torpedo's, they are missing to.

The boat has beautiful textures, very good.

I don't know how to change the settings you requested, because I haven't done anything with SH since a long time. My focus was to create an exact model of the submarine and the other features of the game I never used (career mode for example). But I think I you search in the forum you could find the solutions by yourself. Sorry, that i can't help you.

Since the fore planes operate by extending/retracting, can you turn the pivots for the bow dive planes 90 degrees and position them appropriately?

@The Beast, this is a diesel-electric sub, not a nuke. Check out Wiki Also, can you post your fixes for crew? Recommend a thread for this download

this might be a nice mod, but only 8 Foretubes with only 8 Torpedos makes this boat very weak in 2nd ww sea combats. Also the colours red and blue is like yellin to the foe "hey here i am, snipe me" the black one is much better, but the you go better not on patrol over the sea with it. Also no deckgun and no Flak. There is nothing better like the "Mother of all the Submarines" whos comin after 45.. The German Type XXI for the German Career

Hello!
I've tried different mods on this subsim page for some time. Now I play with the Fall of the Rising Sun Ultimate v0.40 and it makes me have really good times, besides being pretty stable. I tried to introduce the two German Type 205 submarines and I continue to follow the same problems as in other Mods, for example the observing periscope moves horizontally, losing its usefulness, the snorkel does not allow me to advance in immersion with which the expense of Battery is increased and the dipping planes are inverted.
My question is whether this happens to me alone or is a defect of the prototype, or if this happened and is already corrected. Otherwise the submarine is very nice and the instrumentation works very well.
My English is a translation of Google and I am very reluctant to enter forums or ask questions but here I leave this question in case you can answer it.
Very grateful for the work you do all those who design improve for this game.
