File Name: SH3-Resolution-Fix (7.6 KB) Download
Author: Seeadler (Uploaded by danlisa)
Date Added: 04-28-09

Description
This mod forces SH3 (and any super mods) to run in resolutions higher than the original coded 1024 x 768.

The original readme is included in the archive.

Instructions:

1) Extract the contents of SH3_XPSP2_Res_Fix_for_1.4b;

2) Copy & Paste the following files to the main SH3 program folder, usually this is C:\Program Files\Silent Hunter 3:

d3d9.cfg
d3d9.dll
SHIII.sdb
SP2 Rez fix uninstall.bat
SP2 Rez fix.bat

3) Once copied, run the SP2 Rez fix.bat file.

4) Edit the d3d9.cfg file on the following lines to include your desired resolution:

resX=1280
resY=960

5) While there, add your desired screeshot path to the line below (please note this mod disables the Ctrl + F11 function, you must use PrtScr):

screenshotPath=C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\SH3 Screens (for example).

6) Start your game and enjoy SH3 as it was ment to be.

NOTE - This fix does not correct aspect ratios for widescreen displays. As yet there is no fix for that.

I just began using this on GWX Gold on a new install of SH3 on a new computer. I have just started a new career and began the official Academy exams and seem to have a slight problem that I don't believe was occurring prior to this graphics fix.

I am in the "Navigation" exam and while looking through the periscope; clicking the left mouse button to allow the rotational view controlled by the mouse movement; when I hit the mouse button again to lock control away from the mouse and back to the keyboard, the curser reappears directly over the torpedo firing button and (had there been any fish in the tube) attempts to fire one away. I found one way to prevent this happening is to hit the F1 menu button, however in actual gameplay this would be a major problem as the natural instinct is the left click the mouse again when locking down the rotation view control of the scope back to the keyboard (Even more so when under attack in combat).

Has anyone else experienced this and/or can suggest a work-around? I'm running Windows 7, SH3 GWX Gold at 1920 X 1080 and was hoping to keep it at this resolution for gameplay.

Forgot to mention that this fix worked in every other way and the gameplay is fantastic looking. Finally, a PC that can more than handle this kind of intensely demanding graphic environment.

Thank you for the fix!!!!

EDIT - Fix for Auto Firing Torpedoes when running at 1920 x 1080 resolution:

See this post : http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...82&postcount=6

It disables the Clickable nature of the fire torpedo button on all screens, leaving Ctrl+Enter (in GWX) or Enter in Stock SH3 the only way to LOS!

Seems to work fine on the stock Steam install. Does this also work with GWX3.0?

I'm running in windowed mode. Can't get it to work. Won't change any of the resolutions. Win 7 64 bit.

I'm doing exactly what the instruction says. It doesn't work. When I'm running the game nothing happens.

I've got:
-Win7 64-Bit
-Steam-Version of SH3 with newest patch
-a Monitor with the native resolution of 1680x1050

What can I do?

Hi,

I'm running SH3 under Linux and Wine. So I cannot execute the batch-file in the wine-bottle, something is wrong with the sdbinst.exe? .

Is there another way to fix the resolution on a Linux-System?

Thanks,
Paco.

So this will only give me more clarity, but won't change round objects from looking oval, huh? Didn't have trouble on my laptop, but my new flatscreen desktop makes things like the submarine map symbol, and periscope view look oval. Kind of annoying.

I've got SH3 running on my W7 machine. Tried installing the resolution fix, the screen goes black on running the game and freezes, I have to get out via task manager.

Anyone else have this problem and have a solution?
