Apparently that night club singer in Das boat, singing "Mon Gars" was the real deal. (sorta, i dunno did she write that song or just sing it for the movie?)

http://movies2.nytimes.com/gst/movies/filmography.html?p_id=128003

Speaking of Mon Gars, anyone know the lyrics to that tune in English? Out of boredom i was trying to find that out, im just curious since ive had that in my gramaphone directory for quite some time now. Sounds great in french, but its kinda silly not knowing what she's singing about.

Kinda reminds me of Ramstien and "Du haust". Was very popular on the radio for its beat and rythm, and nobody knew its lyrics. One day some DJ played the english translation and it sounde aweful, "you hate.. you hate me" or something like that. Quite funny.

Yeah, Rita Cadillac. Porno actress. I love that song. The band look great. All the guys with the slicked over hair. Very crusty. I've wanted to get an mp3 of it, but I'm not sure what album it's on. One of the Das Boot soundtracks has it.

As for Du Hast... Rammstein stuff sounds very military, but the lyrics are something completely different. Du Hast is about wedding vows, depending on how you read it. Hass is German for hate. Hast, in this context, "Du hast mich gefragt, und ich hab nichts gesagt", means "You have asked me, and I have no answer". Du Hast means "You have". The chorus gives away what it's about:

Will you until death parts you, be true to her for all days? And the guy answers "Nein!" I don't need to translate that part :)

It's a guy at the altar getting jitters.

Bück dich, the song with the Stuka siren at the beginning, has an even more interesting translation. It's about S&M.

Yup. One day i found the entire album on MP3 and D/L'ed it. Its up there, look around, im sure you'll find it. Id post where/ or upload it to my own site, but since its copyrighted work, im gonna be a good boy and not do that. (that and im too lazy to FTP it right now)

well I like that song and I have it on my U-Boot quite often too, but the good thing is that I am French, so I know what she says :-)

Well I try to google the translation cause I am kind of lazy and I am sure it 's out there somewhere.

Basically she's talking to a guy (Gars means guy, more or less) and invites him to have a short relationship with her.. they have sex and then she laughs at him when he takes the story too seriously and she kicks him out of the bed :-)

LOL nice. That seems to fit the enviorment that the song is sung in, in Das boot. I knew it had to be something risque, i just didnt know what :D

Unlucky finding lyrics or translation so I did it :-)

Eh, ne crains rien, j'me sens bien, quel festin, allez viens...

Pauvre ami, rien compris, ben tant pis, tiens pardi

(bis)

oh and by the way, it's ''touché' but you would be correct if the persone you hit is female... (touché means 'touched' or 'hit' while fencing :-)

K there is a quite poor translation I did.. it'll have to do for tonight :know:
Come on, come here my guy, life opens its arms to you,
A small turn, one two three, a little ride, you and me
It is no more difficult than that, it is enough to believe in it, and then here it is
It is all honey, it is all sky, it is all dream and sun.

Come on, come here my guy, come there, time does not await
Come on, come here my guy, come there, as long as I open my arms to you
come here my guy, come there, time does not await
Go come here my guy, come there and hold me tight
kiss me.

Ah! How your avid mouth in my neck is sweet,
Ah! How crazy your wolf's teeth on my knees
Go ahead my dear, go to the end, and suddenly great big wolf,
Don't be afraid of anything, I feel well, what a feast, go, come...

Come on, come here my guy, come there, time does not await
Come on, come here my guy, come there, as long as I open my arms to you
Come on, come here my guy, come there, time does not await
Come on, come here my guy, come there hold me prisoner in your arms
Stroke me.

Pack up your tools, already, extinguish the fire, a little turn and over
a little ride and then, thank you
I had said to you, it is not for life, just for a night, a little madness
Poor friend, understood nothing, whatever,

Come on, go away my guy, that's it, time does not await
Come on, go away my guy, that's it,there are other girls than me,
Come on, go away my guy, that's it, time does not await,
Come on, go away my guy, that's it, soon you will forget me, The life goes on. (bis)

She wasn't a porn star as such, she was a dancer in a caberet club called the Crazy Horse Saloon in the late 50's, sort of like that Dita Von Teese girl is today.:)

She was 45 when she was in Das Boot, looked bloody good. She looks a bit like my GF, and to annoy th GF I play the tune in the car, she goes nuts!

Rita Cadillac from Das Boot died in Deauville, France of cancer April 4 1995. There is apparently a porn actress (Rita de Cássia Coutinho) using her name now.

Interesting. I thought it might have been a period song resurrected for use in the movie. It was a perfect song for the nightclub scene, and Rita sure looked good for 45 :D ; just never realised it was composed for the movie. My other favourite, "J'attendrai", is from 38-39.
