Hi All.

Long time ago for me to find some time to play with U-Boats...

I have done a long time before a small mod for SHIII where u had the Torpedoe- Setting Dials in all Scopes and the UZO.

That was very usefull for manuall shooting and very comfortable to set all important Torpedoesettings directly in Attackperiscope or UZO.

Missed that in SHIV U-Boats. So i tried to implement that into this sim.

The zone-line in the new menu_1024_768.ini is a little bit tricky and i still do not know how every part there works.

Got the mod to work now in game so maybe it is interesting for someone esle.

THIS MOD IS ONLY FOR SHIV U-BOAT ADDON 1.5, ONLY FOR GERMAN BOATS.

This Mod is made for the resolution: 1280 x 960.

But it can also run under other resolutions, higher or lower, needs then just a little bit finetuning for the positions which is explained at the end of the included readme.

With this mod u will get 5 Torpedoedials from the Attack Map into ur Attack Periscope and ur UZO. The Observation Periscope will stay what it is, just for observation.

These Dials are implemented.

- Topedoedepth
- Torpedoespeed
- Torpedoepistol
- Torpedoesalve

- Tubeselction if Salve active
- Spreadangle for Salve

Those are completely docked at the Tubes Selectionpannel down under, so it slides with them in and out with the Autohide button. U can still use the Notizblock at the top right just by sliding the Dials out.

A lot of new Blocks are added into the dials.cfg and the menu_1024_768.ini, but don`t be afraid, it is all just copy&paste :)

The Graphics aren`t maybe perfect and on ur standards, but for me was the function more important for the moment. Feel free to change whatever u like....

Here 3 Screenies:

Maybe someone needs those dials, so have fun with that and good hunting.

Everyone is free to change, add, update, combine or whatever he want`s. U don`t have to ask or put me in credits if you change, overwork or combine it with other mods. Feel free to do with this mod and files whatever u like.

Note:
It is very nice to see how much this community still works on those 2 games SH3 and SH4.

I have downloaded some really great great mods here and wann thank all of u for each ones efforts to keep this great U-Boat Sims alive.

Awesome to see what "some small Modders" could do for the Feelings and atmosphere in this Sim! Keep that work on guys, wish i could have more time again for modding....

I'll be adding this to my every changing menu file. Thank you!

FYI: They have a good tut here (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=111344) that explains everything in the zone line.

Don`t know that.

It's UZO and attack periscope interface in SH3 WAC supermod, with which you can operate TDC without going to F6 screen, and it was different from NYGM HUD.
It can be found in "Racerboy's HUD for milkman" also.

I believe it is your work in WAC FLBSale U999, maybe with some rearrangements and other additions too.

Hi,

didn`t know that mod.

Looks great, nice to see what how that mod was upgradet to. :)

I have not the time to built all those Dials into the Peris at the moment.
It`s a hugh amount of work needed there and i cannot start there because i maybe couldn`t finish that in the next few weeks.

I am sorry for that guys.

The Problem is that there is a lot of editing the menu.ini blocks...

I couldn`t just copy & paste these 5 Dials with this TDC mod and include it into the "new" SHIV menu.ini.
These new Zone-line is a little bit complicated for me, but not impossible to get through :)

Tried today a little bit to implement a big Compass and a Big 260 Meter Depthgauge for slideout like i did that before in SHIII.

Everything works great but only this damn Phantom field where u cannot click on is a big problem. so i decided to don`t buitl this mod anymore. Cannot get rid of that transparent Field where u cannot click on or use anything behind it.
In the SHIV menu.ini works the Sliding Section different then in SHIII :( Can`t get trough it. The only thing i know is that it is a Problem of the

Type=1031;Stat bmp array

which seems to be the problem of this SlidingPhantomfield....

Would be great to have a bigger Compass in the game, but until that problem isn`t solved, it will not work porperly like it should.

Just a Tip for the poeple which tried to add new Sliding Groups into this game.

So for the moment i have no time for modding anymore :(

Maybe in the future.

Have fun with the TDC Dials mod.

Nice to see you again, Sale. I still play SH3 and still use the 'Simfeeling 6-Dials' mod.:rock:

Fleet boats and U-boats use the same menu_1024_768.ini or use different file?:hmm:

Hi,

SHIV 1.4 & 1.5 are using the same menu_ini.

The differenz between SHIV`s 1.4 & 1.5 menu_ini to SHIII is the Problem.

Not directly the new Zone-Line, but things like the Slideout Phantomfield.....

Also in SHIV the dials in the dials.cfg are little bit different. Exactly the Maindials in ur HUD are changed in SHIV 1.5 by code because of the switching in SHIV between Uboats and Fleetboats....

Hi all,

A small edition of this Mod for those who would prefer to have the TARGET SPEED Dial instead of the SPREAD ANGLE in this mod.

DCB asked me to make that, so maybe it could be also helpfull for other players which would like to set the target speed manually rather in the Peri and UZO then only on the TDC Map....

Screeny for better imagine:

http://img57.imageshack.us/img57/2231/sh4img200806221621ce0.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

The installation is easy, just copy&paste and replacing some Blocks...

Ok, here u go.

First Change in ur dials.cfg:

Add 2 Numbers to ur DialsNo=XX at the top of the File.

Then find this block ([DialXX] Numbers u have to find and change by urself):

[DialXX]
Name=Spread_angle; FLB Sale`s Torpedo Anzeigen, Torpedofächerwinkel Peri
Type=33; DIAL_SPREAD_ANGLE
Cmd=Set_spread_angle
Dial=0x2620B002
CrtVal=0x2620B001
NewVal=0x0
DialVal=0,180
RealVal=0,20; degrees
Circular=Yes
CmdOnDrag=Yes

and change it into this one:

[DialXX]
Name=Sol_Speed;Attack Peri
Type=28; DIAL_SOL_SPEED
Cmd=Set_TDC_target_speed
Dial=0x2620B002
CrtVal=0x2620B001
NewVal=0x0
DialVal=15,345
RealVal=0,55; knots
Circular=Yes
CmdOnDrag=Yes
SndStep=1
SndList=1,Menu.TDC.Speed,55

Next find this block:

[DialXX]
Name=Spread_angle; FLB Sale`s Torpedo Anzeigen, Torpedofächerwinkel UZO
Type=33; DIAL_SPREAD_ANGLE
Cmd=Set_spread_angle
Dial=0x2820B002
CrtVal=0x2820B001
NewVal=0x0
DialVal=0,180
RealVal=0,20; degrees
Circular=Yes
CmdOnDrag=Yes

and change it into this one:

[DialXX]
Name=Sol_Speed;UZO
Type=28; DIAL_SOL_SPEED
Cmd=Set_TDC_target_speed
Dial=0x2820B002
CrtVal=0x2820B001
NewVal=0x0
DialVal=15,345
RealVal=0,55; knots
Circular=Yes
CmdOnDrag=Yes
SndStep=1
SndList=1,Menu.TDC.Speed,55

and for last add these 2 new blocks at the end of that file and change the DialXX numbers:

[DialXX]
Name=Sol_Torp_Speed; FLB Sale`s Torpedo Anzeigen, Torpgeschwindigkeit Peri
Type=17; DIAL_TORP_SPEED
Dial=0x0
CrtVal=0x2620B004
NewVal=0x0
DialVal=0,360
RealVal=0,60; knots
Circular=Yes

[DialXX]
Name=Sol_Torp_Speed; FLB Sale`s Torpedo Anzeigen, Torpgeschwindigkeit UZO
Type=17; DIAL_TORP_SPEED
Dial=0x0
CrtVal=0x2820B004
NewVal=0x0
DialVal=0,360
RealVal=0,60; knots
Circular=Yes

Save that file and now open ur menu_1024_768.ini.

Find in ur ini these Blocks in ur Attack Peri Sektion (G26 IXXX):
U have to renumber maybe the IXXX Numbers!!! I just took my ones, but u have to look which numbers u have there and renumber them if it is needed...

Hi, I was wondering, if it would be possible to fix these options elsewhere?
I mean so that the notebook is visible again. To be more precise, I mean like this:

I didn't get any response to my request, hmm...

Well, so I allowed myself to create a modified version, I only lack to find out how to put in the extra dial in the center, ti the target speed dial.

Anyway for now it looks like this:

Carotio, I would have responed but I still can't get the U-boat version yet. Still, I like where you've put them. I like seeing the clipboard too.

Are they permanent, or 'pop-up'?

They are permanent, but tied to the torpedo fire panel like Sale originally did it, so if you click to remove that they will slide to the right.

Well, here's the general plan of what I want to do:

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y288/Carotio/SaleMod4.jpg

And this is where I am stock for the moment:

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y288/Carotio/SaleMod5.jpg

Does anybody know, which line in menu_1024_768.ini controls, what stays on top and what goes underneath?
I have been looking in the tutorial here on subsim:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=111832
but I'm still uncertain, what it is to look for.

well, I just played a little more with the ini. ti the dds file in the background and its position in menu.ini, and I think I have figured it out now... :lol:
It just had to point to the last ParentID

DOH! :damn:

Now, I just have to position it back to where it should be.
Then replace the other dial, try and add that manual/auto button,
and if possible, I would like to add a small button too to point to the Q button command, ti the open/close torpedo doors.

do you think there is a way to have more (smaller) firing buttons on the pannel, because I'll soon need 6 front and 2 aft...

when do you post it for download?

If you are mentionned in the note accompanying my IJN sub mod and in a credits file, could I add it to my work so as to have a more complete mod ?

Maybe, but it would require both a rework of the periscop.dds and the menu.ini, some major rework, I would say. But it should be possible. Not that I plan to do it though. If you wanna rework my rework later, then fine with me...

When? When it's ready... :lol: 2 more items I wanna (try) add and 1 to replace.

For my sake, sure you can use it, though original credits must be given to FLB_Sale_U999 too :yep:

I have run into a minor problem.

On this screen, you have the button for choosing manual or auto tdc:

Now I seem to have found the lines for it in menu.ini:

However, a search in dials.cfg for the ItemID 0x3B1B0000 didn't help me. Technically, it ain't a dial anyway, so it probably is located in another file somewhere.
The question is: where?
Does anybody know?

Working with this, I have tried to study the logic of dials.cfg vs menu.ini, but it came to a stop, when trying to add this button. And I want it. I have succesfully added a button on the right location, but I can't make it work untill there is a controller for it.

And then to speak about a button for open-close torpedo doors too...

Carotio

Hi Carotio, if the "SH3-style" buttons still work in SH4 then you could implement the open/close tube & manual/auto update buttons. I think they're the same as the I45 here, without the I44 parent, just the button positionned on your background.
Then if I remember correctly, you can assign the ID of the button to the command in commands.cfg.
Latemail used this solution for "open/close torpedo tube" & "rudder amidship" buttons, I used the latter in the s-boot mod for SH3.
Not sure if it works here but it's always worth trying :)

So you're saying that I shouldn't have a menu group, just the check box!? :hmm:

And this assigning of ID to commands.cfg, where do I write this? In menu.ini or dials.cfg or where?

Carotio
07-04-08, 08:36 AM
Sorry, goldfish memory = lack of precision :lol:
Then in commands.cfg, I have this :

[Cmd184];s-boot
Name=Rudder_amidship
Ctxt=1
MnID=0x3F1A1105
Key0=0xDE,C,"'"

So when I click the button, it's like pressing the ' key. Now, does it still work that way in SH4, that's the question :)

I like the goldfish comparison :rotfl:

Okay, I think your commands.cfg info there may be the key, I was looking for, not 100% sure, but I'll try add a line like MnID=........ and see what happens...

btw, in commands.cfg, I have this:
[Cmd131]
Name=Toggle_TDC_autoupdate
Ctxt=1

There's no Key=this or that and no MnID. But clicking the button in the attack map still works.
So wondering now, if I should add to Cmd131 or write a new Cmd line... will try both...

If it works, I'll send you one of my food pills for my aquarium fish :up:

Carotio

The commands.cfg and adding MnID lines really didn't do the trick, so I looked how the dial for selecting one tube or salvo worked and then kind of copied some of that and messing with the figures and textures.

So now I have a dial showing up in the right place, and it IS sort of working, except that the dial is showing M all the time, and I should maybe reverse M and A, because the game starts on auto. So one cannot really click it so the dial moves. One has to click and drag on the dial sideways, and then you can change between Manual and Auto.
So in the commands.cfg, I have this:

[Cmd131]
Name=Toggle_TDC_autoupdate
Ctxt=1
;MnID=0x2620D001
;MnID=0x2820D001
Key0=0x41,Rs,"Right Shift + A"

This way, you can always use the keyboard.

For dials.cfg, I had to come up with a new Type, since there was no Type for the attack map autoupdate button, and it seems Type37 works, so...

[Dial90]
Name=Autoupdate; Carotio`s Torpedo Dials, Auto-Manuel Peri
Type=37; Toggle_TDC_autoupdate
Cmd=Toggle_TDC_autoupdate
Dial=0x2620D002
CrtVal=0x2620D001
NewVal=0x0
DialVal=-45,45
RealVal=0,1; 0-auto or 1-manuel
Circular=Yes
CmdOnDrag=Yes
SndStep=1
SndList=2,Menu.TDC.TorpedoSalvo_T,0.1,Menu.TDC.Tor pedoSalvo_S,1,

[Dial91]
Name=Autoupdate; Carotio`s Torpedo Dials, Auto-Manuel UZO
Type=37; Toggle_TDC_autoupdate
Cmd=Toggle_TDC_autoupdate
Dial=0x2820D002
CrtVal=0x2820D001
NewVal=0x0
DialVal=-45,45
RealVal=0,1; 0-auto or 1-manuel
Circular=Yes
CmdOnDrag=Yes
SndStep=1
SndList=2,Menu.TDC.TorpedoSalvo_T,0.1,Menu.TDC.Tor pedoSalvo_S,1,

I'm too tired to experiment anymore this night, so any suggestions to how to make the dial switch from side to side by editing these lines in my dials.cfg?

On screen, it looks like this for now:

@any moderator
this thread should be moved to ATO forum...

I use 1280*1024

I put the command to no, and I have exchanged the texture for the dial with a really small green-yellov dot, so the dial actually works as a button. Well, that is 9 out of 10 times. If it doesn't work the first time, one just has to click again. I can live with it. So one just has to click on either the green-yellow center or the back circle with the A and M written upon it, and one should be able to switch between manual and auto for range and speed of target. The bearing works with uzo and periscope when moving. So now I only need to try and put a button for open-close torpedo doors.

any news on this supernatural mod?

well messing with the menu.ini file can be pretty frustrating to times :damn:
mostly because it's change this or that, then start game to check, then exit and correct till the effect is there.
So I took a pause from it and modded something else, like textures and torpedos, to clear my mind before the last step = the open/close torpedo doors button.
And thursday, I'm going away for a week to visit the family, which means no modding.
When back I'll try and see if I can get back to it...

I have been absent for a week, had to help my mother with her pc. The old one broke down, couldn't figure it out, so we had to go purchase a new one. Back in my own home, I have some catchup to do, also in the mod community it seems, and next week is busy IRL too. Maybe I can use an hour before bedtime each night to get this mod ship off. It's about time... :yep:

No, sorry, not any whatsoever :oops:
I just can't seem to find the time, meaning an entire day, to get the last hurdle done and then choose to pack it up with either an explainatory readme or as a complete mod, which eventually will overwrite any other previous mods modifying menu_1024_768.ini and commands.cfg.
Probably the last...

If anyone sees me online now and then, it's just to pop in to keep myself up-to-date with other modders work.
