This is a mod(let) for Silent Hunter (3) that allows users to draw lines/circle-radi/waypoints/protractor legs on the navigation map in the specific directions they want on the 360 degree scale.
This mod was originally released on august 8th 2008 as "navmap_4_all_lines". The name and documentation was changed to be more descriptive. No functionality of this mod has changed.
See "compass_on_all_navmaptools.jpg" for a screendump showing the tools. (Obviously this is a collage of 4 screenshots showing the moment before clicking to place the endpoint of the lines. You will only see 1 bearing scale at the same time when you use it.)
I don't know who originally created this South-on-top bearing-scale image. I modified the files in the SilentHunterIII\data\Menu\MouseCurs folder from my OLC Gui 1.2.7/GWX 2.1 installation. Previously this bearing-scale was usable for the line only. The others had an ordinary cursor. My modifications are duplicating the line.tga file three times. Then renaming them to Square.tga, Protractor.tga and Compass.tga. Then adjusting the cursor-offset values XO and YO in the mouse.cfg file.
South is deliberately on top. The compass is rotated 180 degrees. This is to make the 'line' intersect the scale at the desired degree value. Simply start a tool from a certain point on the map, then place the next end of the line wherever the desired degree value is intersected by the line.
This (small) mod is Jonesoft's Generic Mod Enabler (JSGME) compatible. Simply extract the "compass_on_all_navmaptools" folder in this zip, into the JSGME 'MODS' folder (while maintaining folder structure). Then enable 'compass_on_all_navmaptools' in the JSGME application. This can be done out-of-port without corruptive effects to your savegames.
I cannot promise this works for all modflavours of Silent Hunter 3 or even Stock as I don't have them on my computer to test it. But sofar I have received no problem reports. Please let me know if you have problems with it by PM at Susim.com
