18-03-2010 Update

Hi there,

I've updated Radio Paris. There are 2 downloads waiting for you

1) An update with 52 new songs 1928-1945 for people who already have
Radio Paris French Music Vol I

Instructions on how to:

a) To be on the safe side: disable the radio mod with JSGME
b) Download the file and unzip it.
c) copy/paste the mp3 files into ~\data\radio\sound\paris folder
d) enable the mod with JSGME

The link with the update --> http://www.filefront.com/15862447/Radio-Paris-Update-1.zip/

2) A new and full version of Radio Paris named: Radio Paris French Music Full Version 1.2 (this includes the old version + the update in an all in one folder).

Instructions on how to (also to be found in the Radio Paris Readme!.txt):

This radio mod is JSGME Friendly.

IMPORTANT!!!!

--- Before you unzip and install please add the following lines to your radio cfg file to be found in the ~data\sound\radio map. (don't forget to make a backup before you add or change things)

[CHANNEL]
Name=Paris
Folder=Paris
Freq=33
Antenna=01.01.1930-01.01.2000:44.16,-35.10:100000
;MusicVolumeOnNews takes values from 0.01 to 1
MusicVolumeOnNews=0.4

1) make sure that your frequencies are in the correct order (lowest first, highest last)

--- To install please unzip the file to the JSGME mods directory and use JSGME to install this mod
1) JSGME will install the mp3 files in the ~data\sound\radio\Paris map
2) All mp3 filenames start with the year in which the song was recorded. So for example the people who do not want to hear songs recorded in 1943 while they are still playing in 1942, just cut/paste the 1943 and later recording dates to a temp folder and you can copy them back when you survive 1942 and get into 1943

Thanks very much for this. One of the best features of the sub games has been listening to period music. The addition of Saigon/French music adds to the immersion factor greatly.:yeah:

Great start! I can't wait to hear it.

Das Boot soundtrack on the gramophone...
Not for me. I love the movie, and the soundtrack, but when I'm playing I only listen to the music they listened to.

I know this is very "Pie in the sky" for not having any modding skills myself, but could this be locational around a 3d radio object in the future? Like there is a radio at the side of the captains bed and the closer you get to it the more clear it is. Hearing it to drown out the din of the 12 compression-induced explosions happening just a few yards away would be an experience.

You guys are already improving this game in a big way even without my idea, cant wait to get home and try it. Can you pick up this signal in the north sea east of the UK?

You can assign a key to bring up the Radio.

Go into the commands CFG and find this entry:

[Cmd561]
Name=Toggle_Activate_UserRadio
Contexts=1
Key0=0x54,,"T"

Binds radio to the T key. Change the frequency on the Radio to 33 in game, job done. :yep:

Well, at the moment there is the Grossdeutscher Rundfunk 1939-1943 RadioMod, to be found here http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=165053

You also might want to take a look here:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=142564&highlight=radio

It's originally meant for sh4 but you can easily implement it into SH5.

You can assign a key to bring up the Radio.

Go into the commands CFG and find this entry:

[Cmd561]
Name=Toggle_Activate_UserRadio
Contexts=1
Key0=0x54,,"T"

Binds radio to the T key. Change the frequency on the Radio to 33 in game, job done. :yep:
Not sure what I miss here, added this line and when pressing T nothing happens. I can't figure out how to make this to work on the stock gui. And I don't want to install any other shortcut mod as I like it as it is. Can someone pls explain i more detail how to make this work on the default gui?

Not sure, it worked for me. Did you do this while in port and not out at sea? Also, do you have any other mods that use the commands.cfg file, If so you may have overwritten the changes you did make.

Zedi
03-25-10, 03:23 AM
Well, it not works no matter if I'm outside or inside the port. Is the latest mod I added, so nothing else could overwrite the command.cfg. And by default I'm not using any mod that change my gui back to an early SH version, only those that add or fix bugs in SH5.

So I still use the default keymap, only shorcut added is the Ctrl+D for deep under keel and this one. Still, pressing T has no result and I see no other option to acces the radio. Actually the radio guy is the most useless crew member, I should just throw him overboard :dead:

Bottom line, on a default gui I installed this mod with JSGME (tryied to add it manually with same result), modified the command.cfg for the shorcut and radio.ini for the radio channel. Now my radio.ini looks like this:

[GENERAL]
RadioRealism=Yes
StartCh=1

[CHANNEL]
Name=Washington
Folder=Washington
Freq=22
Antenna=01.01.1930-01.01.2000:44.16,-35.10:100000
;MusicVolumeOnNews takes values from 0.01 to 1
MusicVolumeOnNews=0.4

[CHANNEL]
Name=Paris
Folder=Paris
Freq=33
Antenna=01.01.1930-01.01.2000:44.16,-35.10:100000
;MusicVolumeOnNews takes values from 0.01 to 1
MusicVolumeOnNews=0.4

Any help is apreciated, the silence on board is just killing my morale :D

Ziem
03-25-10, 04:34 AM
In default key map is the "T" assigned to another command?

Z.

Zedi
03-25-10, 06:30 AM
Hum, you are right.. there is another T in the cfg file, but not shown on F1:

[Cmd21]
Name=A01gun_camera
Contexts=1,15
;Key0=0x54,,"T"
Page=0x3A000000,3710
GoBack=Conning_deck_camera

Huh, now I just need to find another free button and test it again, I will get back if I manage to get this working.

Later Edit: actually is more "T":

[Cmd490]
Name=Camera_on_sub
Contexts=1,2,3,5,9,11,13
Key0=0x54,,"T"

Zedi
03-25-10, 07:02 AM
Oke, it works now but I can't understand how. I changed the shortcut in commands.cfg as follows:

[Cmd561]
Name=Toggle_Activate_UserRadio
Contexts=1
Key0=0x54,,"Ctrl+T"

If I press Ctrl+T nothing happens, but if I press only "T" it works. Beats me why. Radio Paris works anywhere, even in middle of Atlantic, only problem is that the volume is pretty low, so when I'm over 12 knots, is pretty hard to hear it and I can't adjust the volume or do anything else than push the control buttons.

When I hover the mouse over the radio I got a message with: "
Are you sure you want to leave the current game session?:
Paris
:33.00"

Anyway, I'm happy that finally I got some music on sub and I don't have to shot the radio guy. Would be nice to reduce the radio interface and make it more slim to fit the new gui, like leaving only the control buttons on a dark background. I would do it myself if I just knew where is the radio interface stored...

Bottomline it works. (officialy every key has a unique string or hex decimal if i'm not mistaken. but as long as it works for you without conflicts).

The volume you can adjust by going to options-->sound settings. There you can adjust the Sound Effects Volume and the Radio Volume..

When I hover the mouse over the radio I got a message with: "
Are you sure you want to leave the current game session?:
Paris
:33.00"

I know.. unfinished sh5 developper stuff. Don't worry about it. Has no influance.

Can't help you with that I'm afraid...

Glad to hear it works... Enjoy the music! :rock:

Great, thank you very much. The music is awesome, morale up, radio guy now have a purpose on the boat, no need to kill him.

I have a set of 670 French songs available for download. These were meant to be used with Ziem's SH4 Radio Saigon mod, but I don't see any reason they can't be used with this mod too. And it'll give you a lot more stuff to listen to.

Use the link below in my sig for more details.

I've made two little mods for increase the volume of radio and gramophone without to change the sounds options:

for SH5 1.2 vanilla
http://www.gamefront.com/files/20005753/Volume_Radio_SH5_v2_zip
Volume Radio SH5 v2.zip

for SH5 1.2 with FX_Update_0_0_11_ByTheDarkWraith
http://www.gamefront.com/files/20007969/Volume_Radio_SH5_TDW_Fix_Update_0011_zip
Volume Radio SH5 TDW Fix Update 0011.zip

All JSGME compatible.

The file is sh.sdl edited with Silent 3ditor at the line Music.Gramophone, on the right panel there is the percentage of the Volume (standard is 91% often too low). Let me know if the volume is too loud for your taste, now it's 100%.

Ok so I can confirm that the archive is broken for the mp3 file mentioned a few pages back but the download link for a replacement mp3 file works and you simply rename the non corrupted file and put that into the file location for the mod and it all works simple

I also took the events from the stock washington radio and copied those into radio paris with the events ini and ogg file

Also I took the radio.ini from stock and put that into the mod as well to make radio paris easy to enable via jsgme

Thanks to the mod author top stuff
