Ukraine 2022 – Mission 1 – Dangerous Waters
One of the navy’s oldest submarines, USS Newport News (SSN 750), has been given ‘dispensation’ (under the terms of the Montreux Convention (1936)) to enter the Black Sea, to participate in the Turkish naval exercise, Asil Kiliç (Noble Sword).
This is on the two provisos that a Russian frigate observes a transfer of her fire control circuitry to a Turkish AOR (so that she has no working weapons) – and that the boat leaves the Black Sea at the conclusion of the exercises.

This mission is set at the beginning of the 2022 Russo-Ukrainian War.
