To Whom it may concern: It's crazy not to continue to develope and improve this game. I fly I Magic's Warbirds and Dawn of Aces online and they are ALWAYS updating these sims and the result is, where there is a computer on this planet there is a Warbirds player. Man, no doubt. When I 1st got 688i I was very excited. Now.... it collects dust on my shelf. Its only a year old!! C'mon Jane's you have made some great patches for you Long Bow series and for F15, don't leave out 688i. Some of us Silent Srvice operators need a release, and 688i is the only one for modern sub surface combat. -- Brendan McDade

I was interested in the possibility of new subs in 688(I) Gold. I would like to see the following classes of submarine added to the game: 637, Seawolf, Alfa, & Typhoon. How about a total sub sim based on 688(I)? Use 688(I) as the base, but add the ability to command a 637 or Seawolf class boat. As far as I can tell, this would only require additional files for ship-specific graphics and characteristics. They could call it "Jane's Hunter/Killer Command", or something of that nature. -- Carlton Dingler

We need all these things and more! 688(i) is the only game I have on my machine and I'm very active in the virtual fleets online for multiplayer play. This is the best sub simulation out on the market but it need major fixes to make the game play more realistic with some better campaigns. I have one question though; who was the one that came up with the outside view for a sub simulation? Maybe it should only be available when surfaced. If Jane's/Sonalysts/EA are unwilling to do one, at least sell the code and rights to another company willing to take on the original concept; i.e., another complete sim dealing with our surface foes! That could be followed by another sim covering the subs of the rest of the world, ( or the Seawolf ). Once you get the platforms involved working smoothly, THEN you put it all together with a C3 system. Don't try to build it from the top down! Work from the bottom up! As a member of SeaWolves, I heartily approve of the fixes requested for 688i. There must be a way to eliminate the cheating that occurs. A great way will be to make 3D an option; or at least some way to publicly notify other members in a multiplayer game. -- Steven J. Weatherwax

Neal, Thanks so much for your efforts and I am very happy to see that I am not alone in the desire for the GREATEST SUBSIM out there to reach even higher pinnacles! I am an ex-submariner of the US Navy and have played many subsims.... When Janes came out...I felt a rush of exhilaration as I drove my sub against the first opponent. After many months of gameplay, I have seen the need for these and many more improvements which ABSOLUTELY need to be made.... I find it hard from a business point of view that the authors of 688(i) are letting this piece of work slip away into the archives of its predecessors when it clearly can be improved upon, added to, and sustained for many YEARS to come! I personally would buy the version out, or a revision to this product which would address this and many others. There is significant revenue here. Count me in .... however, I am a little puzzled as I read your recent 'Subsim Update' and it suggests there will be add-on shortly, it has just been delayed (according to Paul Grace). There is no doubt, it would be a tragic shame not to develop 688i further, as it is without doubt the best commercial submarine sim on the market to date.
