YEARS ON THE WEB! |
CELEBRATION CONTEST |
Wanna win some cool submarine stuff?? We're just happy to oblige.
Contest closed February 13, 2002. Winners based on procedure below.
Rules and procedures
Only one entry per person, multiple entries will disqualify.
Drawing method - STOCK EXCHANGE NUMBER MATCH
To employ a fair and transparent method of drawing a random number we'll use the last three digits of the ending Dow Jones, NASDAQ, and S&P 500 closing numbers starting on each drawing day (starting Feb 15) to determine the winners of the contest. So whatever is your entry number in the donor list above, if your number matches the last three digits of the Dow, NASDAQ, and S&P as listed on CNNfn after the close of the market (the number used will be whatever CNNfn lists on their website at 8:00 pm CST), you win the prize of the week. If we receive more than 99 donors we will pull the last three digits from the stock figure.
First drawing day: Feb. 15, 2002
EXAMPLE
Say if the NYSE Dow-Jones closing number on Feb. 15, 2001 as posted on www.CNNfn.com at 8:00 pm CST is 8932.21, then the last two digits are 221. The player with entry number 221 wins the first prize. If there is no entry 221, we move to the NASDAQ, then the S&P. If all three indexes do not provide a winning number, there is no winner that day and the process resumes the next business day until all winners have been named. Each winner will have 5 days to reply to the e-mail we will send them and post on the Subsim Forum and claim his prize. Otherwise the winners below him move up.
All numbers will be pulled from the CNNfn website.
UPDATE: What do you know, we go through all this to have complete disclosure and be fair and we screw up! In the first drawing we pulled the last two numbers of each stock market index, not the last three. Keep in mind, there would have been no winner using the last three, but by using the last two, we gave the contestants with 1-99 a much better chance at winning. Our mistake and we apologize. To make amends, we will award the last two prizes to a matching number between 100 and 137.
