pitch black night, probably OT

Hello,
the night in SH3 is so dark that i cannot see anything, even not with a darkened room and increased monitor brightness.
I just realized that i cannot adjust the monitor's alpha channel anymore, or at least it does not have any effect on SH3. Something to do with any mod (scene.dat changed instead of the old three envirinment files? - only an idea) Or did my Iiyama monitor fail somehow ?
