Default How shocking! The Brits do it, too!

They spy on us! Eeeeeeek...!

http://www.spiegel.de/international/...-a-931868.html

Naive Germans. Dear Germans, if you want others not spying on you, i advise you to do this: become strong in spionage so that you are able to fight them off and prevent them from successfully doign what they do. That is what counter-espionage is about.

To accuse the Americans or the British of trying to steal our economic and business secrets is as rational as to accuse German export industry to be stronger than that of those complainig about it.

Dear Germany, fight foreign intel off instead of crying about their operations!
Dear America - become economically stronger yourself instead of crying about us hvaign strong exports (the same greeting goes to France, England and the EU).

Too good that Germany's diplomatic elite has forced America to accept singing an anti-spying-treaty. That will teach America its limits, I'm sure.

Your telling me that during the cold war (West) Germany didn't build up its own espionage network?

Or that it's a complete surprise to Germans that spying ever took place from Teufelsberg, even when it looked like this (but in better state of repair)? -

Only the subjects change.

Well...you know...you are Germany, and we are Britain...you know... It's tradition. We spy on the French too, just in case.

I don't think the Brits spy. That's to crude and not British as they say.
I'd think it would be called 'a Clandestine Inquirey'.

The British ambassador in Berlin has been called in to Germany's foreign ministry to respond to spying allegations.
The UK's Independent newspaper says the British embassy in Berlin may house a "top-secret listening post".
It cites leaked US National Security Agency (NSA) documents suggesting the UK could be using hi-tech equipment housed on the embassy roof.

Spying on allies makes sense. You know your enemies are up to no good - with your friends you need to check...

Ah yes. I stand corrected.
I'm sure it was more a nudge nudge wink wink sort of situation, eh Bruce?

Oh...oh that!

No, that's not for spying! That's for getting certain late night channels.
