Launching SH5

I purchased and loaded SH5 a while ago when I was still playing SH4. Now I’ve gone back to SH5. I remember there was a big discussion about having to play SH5 while connected to the Internet, but Ubisoft finally caved in and allowed one to play without the Internet. At that time I reset the settings and played offline. Since then the interface has changed and I'm having a problem playing the game. I’ve gone to the top right of the Uplay screen under my username and clicked play offline. I then go to settings and am faced with the following choices:

-Enable cloud save synchronization for supported games
-Always start Uplay in offline mode
-Enable in-game overlay for supported games (Press Shift + F2 while on game to activate the overlay)
-Disable all in-game social notifications
-Allow Uplay to use a proxy connection to access the internet.

I want to play offline, but I’m confused as to which of these items should be checked to play in the offline mode. If I do not check any of them and click the big play button I get a dialog box with a warning telling me to either “Go to Uplay Settings” or "Launch Game (Not Recommended)."

So do I just Launch the game from here even though it’s not recommended or which of the Uplay settings to I check if I just want to play offline?

Exit the Launcher
Start the launcher
Tick everything except Enable cloud save synchronization for supported games
Exit the launcher

Thanks for your reply but I want to clarify what you stated because the game did not launch off line.

First, in the top right hand side under my username should the selection be marked as online or offline before I go to settings? Do I need to change this selection at any time during or after I set up the settings?

Then your instructions state:

(I assume this instruction and those following refer to the settings that appear in the spoked wheel to the left of my username.)

Exit the Launcher
(By “exit the launcher” what do you mean? Go to the “Home” tab, exit Uplay, close the settings dialog box?)

Start the launcher
(I assume you mean to go to the screen that has the large Play button and click on the Play button.)

(Does this mean I now tick the “Always start Uplay in the offline mode” that I had unticked in step one?

Sorry to be such a thick head, but I need more clairification or maybe I have to reinstall the game.
