Default German Name Generator

I found this generator online and wanted to share it with you guys. For the people who get stuck finding a name for their Captain.

Nice find

Back in SH3 I liked the way SH3Commander randomized the captain names.
I'm using my latest name from SH3 in SH5 now.

I still use Commander to generate names for my SH4 u-boat kaleuns, and for when I still play Aces Of The Deep.

This looks good though.

I never have been able to stop chuckling at how SH5 defaults a new commander's name to "Oscar Entwickler" ("Entwickler" meaning "developer"), but that's just one of the quirks of being a polyglot.

Thanks for sharing the link, though. It sure beats just picking a random name from the online telephone directory for Dusseldorf

I was trying it last night and it doesn't seem to randomize that much. It seems to be the same ones over and over. Maybe if I close out browser and reopen web page it will refresh it some how. I still like SH3Commanders name generator.

Ok, I figured it out. Just hit web page refresh button and it will generate the names for you. Why couldn't I think of it last night, lol. I guess I was up very late and tired.

Hope you guys enjoy!

That's one I didn't know. In the U-boat add-on for SH4 the default name was a tribute to Dowly's funny creation: Bernard von Unfal.

Those were the days, eh? Oh, and SH3... The memories. Good to be back here after a few years of absence, Sailor Steve, and good to see you're still around. This community is still everything that had me coming back again and again for months upon months.

Thanks! Glad to BE back! I had my eyes on this latest install of the Silent Hunter series for a long time, but life got in the way (I KNOW how much I love this genre, it's like crack! ) and the bad reviews plus the memories of the fights back with SH3 and how that baby didn't exactly launch right either didn't help.

On the other hand, my memories of how this community turned SH3 into everything it should have been and then some ALSO made me know that, one day, I'd be sucked right back in and enjoying every second of it

That moment has arrived, and I couldn't be happier. Firing up all of the sound files that I spent ages compiling back then (it seems they've survived, at least some of them, in various music mods out there and, by the way, I still have all of that period music, God knows how many GBs of it, in case anybody is interested), brushing off my dusty Kaleun's hat and ready to set out for the open sea again

Life is good.

As you wish. It's all period music, as in "stuff a real Kaleun might have or that might be on the radio". Took me a while to gather it and get it turned into .ogg files and yes, even though copyright issues were unlikely with music about 70 years old, I put a huge arse disclaimer up encouraging anybody who had a copyright on it to let me know so I could kill it immediately. I never got a word from anybody, so I'm assuming it's OK.

Anybody know a good place to upload stuff these days, because I don't have the server space to do so myself.
