Iott said he has been involved in re-enactments on and off for roughly 35 years. Iott said he could not recall when he and his son joined the Wiking group but that he was no longer involved.
"Never, in any of my re-enacting of military history, have I meant any disrespect to anyone who served in our military or anyone who has been affected by the tragedy of war, especially the Jewish Community," Iott said in a statement Saturday.
During the peak of his involvement in the early 2000s, Iott said he dressed up about a half dozen times a year at the most. He said he wore the Nazi uniform in battle re-enactments, presentations at schools and public events.

I know some people that do WW2 german re-enacting, and they will boot you out so fast if they even think you actually believe in nazism. They make it crystal clear actual nazis are not welcome.

In politics, finding out your opponent is a Nazi, or has dressed up like a Nazi in some context, or uttered the word "Nazi" or even seen a picture of a Nazi is election gold. Just slap that accusation down and ride it.

No, because that doesn't fit the narrative they've created for themselves in their heads. It's not "typical electioneering garbage that either side would jump on if given half a chance." In order to square with their worldview, it becomes the "stench of desperation from one side and my side would never have done such a thing."

Some people have never seen an objective fact or held a null hypothesis. You can't reach them, so why bother.

The Republican National Committee is filing a complaint with the Federal Elections Commission over what they believe are illegal donations made to Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's campaign from foreign sources.

"We believe they have been accepting donations from foreign nationals and excessive contributions," said RNC Communications Director Danny Diaz. He said there were "questions with regards to the legitimacy" of the hundreds of millions low-dollar contributions Obama has received.
