fps drop in horizon

Hi all, new here. Just started with sh3 + gwx and geeeeeeeeee I feel in heaven although I have spent more time reading the forums than actually playing. Awesome game and awesomer community

I just have a little problem, and am sure 99% it has to do with my computer specs: everything works just fine but when I look at the horizon (free view, periscope, bridge...) my fps drop dramatically. Everything works fine when I am under water or looking at the sub or ships from top. Everything is fine until the screen reaches the horizon.

It does not happen though when I use the binoculars or when zooming in with the periscope.

Is there a setting I can make use of to fix that?
