Default Does anyone get that empty feeling?

Last night the heroic crew of U 53 were destroyed by three destroyers in April 1941 in a convoy attack.
Starting over in U 46 now.
I always have a small sense of loss after these actions, staring at the word "Dead".
Anyone else feel this?

Default Been there done that :)

A couple of times in the past yes,my best career to date was done with stock version about 1 year ago,I had completed 18 patrols for approx 1.4 million tonnes and was finally sunk by a squadron of bombers entering the bay of Biscay,I was almost home. The bombs destroyed most of the upper deck including every person up there.I was absolutely GUTTED,I almost felt like crying LOL
My new campaign using GWX3 will be more interesting, and am glad to start back in Sept 1939 for a whole new experience.
Suffice to say my stock career ended in Aug 1942 and I have not been past that point yet as I aborted that campaign in order to start a new one with GWX3

I get mad some times. A sort of, "How dare they forget their place and attack me! Don't they know who I am?" Then I quickly get over that and move on to seek my vengance for the loss of my last boat.

Rest assured Rconch, U-53 is alive and well in another dimension under my able command, currently February 5th, 1940. We're north of the British Isles heading down to our patrol grid of BF18. Talk back at base has hinted at high levels of traffic in this area so we'll do our best to avenge your loss.

Well, the fact is we all invest many, many, many hours in our sub and crew, and when it is gone, you feel the loss of those many, many hours of effort.

Take strength from the fact you have another chance to try again...unlike those in RL

The thing I think about frequently is that we, at least, have the benefit of dying again and again and again, all while still learning how to fight and survive, even learning from our "deaths".

They never had that chance to learn. One bad "lesson" in real life and that was the end of school, forever.

I started the game with U-22.
From 1939 to 1940.
Then, I took a type VIIB, the U-99.

I sail out of Kiel, reach outside of the Kanal.
and a radio message says U-22 failed to report.
Probably a mine...

Great, thanks.
If you ever sailed U 46 and lost her, I will do my best with her now.

I'm thinking of making you my marketing assistant....you have a curious habit of echoing/repeating what I post.

Repeat after me..."SEND ALL YOUR MONEY TO JIMBUNA"
