Default Fast! Fast! Fast!

Thank you, Neal, [1] for getting all our messages through even after the possible overload placed on Subsim with SH5.

I love these forums just as much (sometimes even more!) than the game itself. I don't get in a lot, but I take fits and starts about visiting.

Recently I'm having a fit.

[2] Dried cabbage is OK if you cook it with ??? (Ask Bernard)

You can suck up to Neal all you want.

I do it every chance I get!

Seriously, he doesn do a great job of keeping this site going in the face of adversity. Maybe he should go back to using the 'Onkel Neal' handle he had when I first came here.

Aha! Now this brings back a memory from a faulty memory bank:

Many years ago I read a book, it was a true memoir IIRC, about U-boat life. The author mentioned that when they had a success, or the Radio Op though their spirits needed lifting, he would play a record...

Now, this is where memory fails me a little - I think the record/title was "My Uncle Edward from ... " [though obviously sung in German, of course.]

Now, [again...!] I can no longer remember the book (though I will still have it somewhere on a shelf) and though I know I once did have a music file of the song I can no longer find it. Any clues please, anyone?

At the moment when we have a little success etc our radio op plays that wonderful tune Oh, Du schöner Westerwald and the whistle always leaves me chilled to the bone.

It's short for 'dozen' which is how many blows you'll get from my club if I ever see you in a dark alley. This is me trying to look mean and not doing a very good job of it.

Seriously, I correct other people, so it's only fair I get mine back once in awhile.
