Christmas present...

Already looking for a Christmas present (Yes, it is almost that time). Can't decide yet.

It is coming down to:

A. A new system, and I doubt I would consult anyone but myself on that, but I am thinking a quad with 4 GB RAM, 4870 1GB ATI, RAID 0 on 2x Samsung 1 TB drives, + 2x 200GB Seagates, also in RAID 0, (list is too long, so stopping here), or...

B. A new telescope - thinking about a 12" Dob from Meade - http://www.skynews.ca/pages/reviews/LightBridge.pdf - and a secondary table scope from Bushnell to go along with - http://www.opticsplanet.net/bushnell...5-voyager.html

C. Or a Tactical Shotgun from Fabarms - http://www.gunshopfinder.com/hk/tacticalsemi.asp

Still in debate on which I need first. Making a poll to see if anyone can provide some assistance. Please provide reasoning behind your pick if you have anything to add.

I voted for the shotgun, only because theres every chance you won't be allowed it if you wait.

If it were me however, I'd be going the telescope. I love space.

It is time, I know. That is the only reason I am considering a new system. Still running an x2 4400+ with an ATI x1900 XTX. I still need a game to tell me to do it though and I played the king - Crysis all the way to the end on nearly max detail (You probably saw in my vid captures I did). The only real reason I want it - to do faster compressions for my entertainment system.

I am so torn, you have no idea. Obama can't do much to my shotgun choice right away if he were elected, so I'd have time on that.

The 12" Dob is a massive instrument however. Easily see galaxies and past the naked eyes capability. Massive light gathering, yet still portable due to its ability to break down. The fact that a scope would occupy so much space is why I never bought a large Newtonian yet. Meade has solved this problem however as you can see. That is one bad ass scope - and under $2K including all accessories to go with! Its pretty massive too! Major light gathering power. The scope is where I'm leaning at the moment. I can always buy the shotgun if a bill start going through congress, but I'm thinking the scope is my first want.

You know which processor to buy, so I get a bigger bonus. Which means more money for seattle trips.

So the scope then, huh? Impressive it is. Wife would have none of it if I couldn't break it down into storable parts! I could buy a 10K sq/ft house, and she would still have none of it! Been trying to get a large Newtonian past her for over 10 years, but she doesn't have an excuse on this one. :p

Just buy it a part at a time. When she asks when you got "that thing", just say you've had it a long time. "It's not my problem you never noticed it.":rotfl:

It was a hard choice between the telescope and the shot gun. I alway prefer a guns. But Telescopes can be handy when checking out a hot chick on the other side of the street if you have one to look at.
