What lol.
If you say so.. i had read this in Wikipedia:
"changing the designation to FS-344.[7] The ship, commissioned at New Orleans on 7 April 1945, served as a Coast Guard–manned Army vessel used for training civilians for the Army. Her first commanding officer was Lt. J. R. Choate, USCGR, succeeded by ...."
So it only was coast guard manned, my fault

Those were the original ships in that class. They were mothballed and then later three of them were brought into service by the USN for use as intelligence gathering ships.

Sorry, had reread the info, it is a pre-ww1 engine, so probably not mounted on a ww1 fighter at all.

Not german, though all those rotary engines are somehow related to the initial german Oberursel "Gnom" and "Stahlherz" ones.
