Activate the outside camera which goes with the U-boat

How do I activate in the Commands cfg the camera that goes with the boat surfaced and underwater? I remember that this was possible in SH.3. I would like to see the Depth charges explosions round my U-boat.

In the settings I have: No external view=false.
With F2 I get the external view. But the camera does not go with the U-boat.
I have to follow the boat with "W". What I need is that the camera follows the U-boat automaticaly. And with "W" I can zoom to the boat and with"S" I can zoom away, and with "A" and "D" I can rotate round the boat.

The only cam that does that is the free cam. You can find it in the bar in the top of your screen that appears when you mouse over it. You see a captain's hat, a conning tower, external view, next unit and previous u it icons.

Click on the Free camera (conning tower icon) you can now flow the boat and use all camera keys, WASD and the numpad keys to move the camera around.

Note! The freecam darkens itself (in my game) I have not yet found out why and it seems that the mod-Gods also do not know why not can they change it.

Thanks for trying to help but the free camera that you shown me in the game is the same camera I get when I press "F2". I am searching for a camera which shows the U-boat from the seaside and is linked to the boat(goes with the boat) without any other action like W-S-A-D is needed. SH 3 had this camera.

I was trying to find the same thing, without luck. Best I could do is, while on surface, to man the deck gun and zoom out to the max while in deck gun mode, this kinda results in external camera that follows the U-Boat but of course would be useless when submerged.

Why Ubisoft wouldn't include such a simple thing is beyond me.

What you are looking for is the camera on next unit cam !!!!!

that tip brought the solution. For interested SH.5 player I explain what I found out.
First change the"Command cfg"

When you want the toggled outside look to the U-boat press= ,(german)<(english). For the next unit press= .(german)>(english).
If you want to dive and the Kaleun is on deck press the graph for "UZO" to go back to the normal screen. When the Kaleun is under deck and you ordered "dive" you can press (,-<) again to come to the Outside toggled look. If the U-boat is under water press the graph for periscope to get to the normal screen.
"W" is zoom in. "S" is zoom out. "A" is turn to the left."D" is turn to the right.
Num"7" turns the U-boat horizontal. Num"1" turns the U-boat vertical.

My keyboard layout is different so I do not use those commands to move myself or change views. I do use W,A,S,D and the numpad keys for zooming and camera rotation though. Still looking for the camera.cams file that lets me zoom in beyond the normal camera boundaries but it should be on the forums somewhere
