The head of the World Health Organization has warned that the coronavirus pandemic is not even close to being over.

It has now been six months since the first cases of a mysterious pneumonia-like illness were reported in Wuhan, China.

At the time it was feared that we would see a repeat of the Sars outbreak of 2002 to 2004, which killed 774 people.

Now, with more than 500,000 people dead and more than 10 million confirmed cases worldwide, WHO director-general Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has said this is "a moment for all of us to reflect".

But, he warned, the "worst is yet to come" - adding that "with this kind of environment and conditions, we fear the worst".

Despite progress in some countries, he said the pandemic was speeding up and the world would need even greater stores of resilience, patience and generosity in the months ahead.

"Six months ago, none of us could have imagined how our world - and our lives - would be thrown into turmoil by this new virus," Dr Tedros told the WHO press conference.

With July 4 celebrations approaching, Texas and parts of California also direct bars to close again.

Stricter lockdown measures have been announced in the British city of Leicester because of a rise in cases.

The EU names 14 countries whose citizens can enter from 1 July, but the US, Brazil and China are excluded.

A new strain of flu that has the potential to become a pandemic has been identified in China.

Globally there are 10.2m cases and there have been more than 504,000 virus-linked deaths.

Too imagine that hairsplitting academic theoretizising made so many medical experts forget the small 101 of battling unknown virological pandemics, air control/cleaning, and environment hygienics. I wll never forget - or forgive - that. Fachidioten. One must not study medicine to use some reasonable thinking and come to the conclusions - wash hands, exchange air, let plenty of fresh air flow to keep virus load in the air low (HEPA filter systems or open windows, according to the virus), maintain proper environment hygienics - that not before months later started to get sold as the big revelations for how to contain the virus.

WHO, CDC, RKI, and many more: they all have made fools of themselves. We are talking about the small 101 of hygienics and virus control. No magical, brandnew rocket science stuff at all.

The big institutions and their managed infrastructure have failed on a systemtic level.

Another trial for a medical drug against Covid-.19 has ended without popsiotive effect. British study project Recovery has found no positive effect of giving a combination of anti-AIDs drugs Lopinavir-Ritonavir.

They admit the number of patients was relatively small, but still the clinical trtial has brought to an end.

"Recovery" is the study project that earlier found that Hydroxychloroquine has no effect and Dexamethason reduces mortality of ventilated serious cases.

Dr. Fauci warns that he would not be surprised to see the number of daily new infecitons in the US exploding from now over 40 thosuand to next over 100 thousand if one cannot manage to flattening the curve again. I conlcude some states laready two days ago said they ha dno more free ICUs or have their ICU capacity used up to over 90%, this then would mean a collapse of the public health system.

Elon Musk would insist that fire is cold if that helps him to keep his factory workers working, and where this ridicule and conspiration theory against Bill Gates and Covid19 is coming from, not even psychiatrists have a theory of.

On another story, the US is reported to have bought up practically all global stockpiles of Remdesivir.
Remdesivir was shown to reduce the stay of serious cases in ICUs from 14 to 11 days, and slightly reducing the number of fatalities. I would describe it not as a cure, but as something that gives mild easing of a crisis.

German company Biontech reports successful first tests with a vaccine candidate. The compnay was the first in Germany giving permission to run clinical trials with a vaccine candidate. This test trial was run in the US, but a German trial will follow. 24 patients all had built antibodies after 4 weeks, with no serious serioius side effects reported by the test persons. Biontech cooperates with Pfizer in the US.
