The only good thing is someone being kind to the dog later and treating it's injuries. Hopefully, someone has the dog who is taking care of it.

I do as well Jim. I enjoy when things work out. Unfortunately for many, they aren't so lucky. Like many here, I love animals and have a good number of cats and dogs. Other friends have horses which are great too.

These are from a couple I was in contact with for some time until a year ago, contact broke off again. They are semi-pro squirrel rehabbers in their free time and and are almost exclusively engaged with this task in their free time. Over the season, a few dozen youngling and injured furballs go through their hands, in this time they give up their living room and turn it into as squirrel camp unilt they finally go into a voliere in a forest nearby, from where they later get elased if they are fit for free life. Usually that last phase is 2-4 weeks, it depends, its about getting used to sounds, smells, temperatures, weather. The animals later get suppoorted form free feeders unbti,t hey hopefully have build their own nests, and learned to feed and maybe move away.

That could be me - if I had the place and an additional free room.
