Default TLAM under ice

I keep blowing myself up trying to launch TLAM’s at periscope depth under the ice in the Seawolf. If I launch from deeper the missiles hit ice and fail. Any way to use a Seawolf to launch TLAM’s under ice, or is that the 688’s job?

I don't think so, this sounds highly implausible to me if you can't physically launch the missiles above the ice like with 688(I). What mission has you launching TLAMs under the ice?

Perhaps you need to search for the thin or free of ice area (polnya)
Here are the parameters of damage under ice for Seawolf
Quote:
0-4 feet thick: No Damage to Ownship.
4-8 feet thick: Minor damage; may lose ice sensors.
8-10 feet thick: Moderate to serious damage; may lose masts; flooding possible.
Have you tried finding a spot with 0-4 f thick icecap and launch from there? Perhaps ice damage factors applicable to the platform also affect the weapons being deployed from that platform.

I am not an expert just trying to learn DW and I only searched manual for info.
