Default UBoat Fat and Lut torpedo control

Getting back into this great game after a long lay-off. Playing OM late War single missions to get practice. Having trouble trying to get the Fat and Lut pattern torpedoes to do anything other than run straight. Any tips please. Thanks.

I found this reply from 2013 on the use of the pattern German torpedoes. It seems that they don’t work as they should in SH IV. Is this still the case in 2023?

“they seem to be an exercise in futility"

NOW YOUR UNDERSTANDING THE NUANCES OF THIS TORPEDO.

So, the German pattern torpedoes in SH IV gold edition don’t work as they should? I have OM installed. Do they work in Dark Waters? I can operate the pattern torpedoes in GWX. Thanks.

do they work in DW?
good question.
i never fiddled with the overengineered torpedo types because one typically had to use manual targeting and i use auto-targeting.
i do not remember if Fifi (or anyone else) tested those models before DW was published.
we were most concerned with making the campaigns and flotillas work in the ATO while using an app that was designed for the PTO.

I have worked on this problem for about a week and found out if you want to play around with the LUT and FAT pattern torpedoes, OM and OMEGU files together are needed. Now the torpedoes work as they should. (And graphically the game looks way better as well!) I only had OM installed previously!
Anyhow, I hoped I have helped someone else that reads this.
