Project 23000E Shtorm is an aircraft carrier, here it's a landing/helicopter assault ship

It's the Zaliv shipyard (at Kerch in Crimea / Ukraine - depending on who is talking about it) that will build the Universal Landing Ship Pryboy class

Project 2300 i cant see being built any time soon, the docks in the north are not done yet and plus they keep sinking money into the kuznetsov.

right now they are being ambitious by having the LPH program which is a good thing, now they have the escorts in the form of the new frigates and corvettes.

personally before they make a commitment to a CV they really need a new DDG program one thats realistic and achievable something i always felt the lider class was not.

as for the cruisers like i say about the USN they need to be phased out, the Slava and Kirovs are money pits and those funds could be used elsewhere in a more practical sense.

other than that they do need to build more Yasen class id put the number around 30 and have them more multi mission like the virginias thus they can then eventually phase out the Project 949's

What they are doing with the borei is also a good thing 10 boats all of one class means maintinance and crew commonality will be cheaper than a plethora of classes like before.

id also say they are doing well with the project 636.3 and should focus on the upgrades of these boats to encompass new technologies like AIP and towed array systems to enhance the boats capabilities the 636 and preceeding 877 are solid designs and they will last another 30 years i rekon.

OK I get it now the CV idea is another project that's still in a dream state .

According to an old Tass article the amphib assualt ships are going to be designed for rotary wing aircraft and marines. I think that would've been perfect for ops like those off the coast of Syria. Does Russia have any VTOL jets? If not and they still want a seaborne fixed wing carrier platform they'll just have to keep dumping money into the old Admiral Kuznetsov.

Why Is Egypt Buying Two Orphaned Mistral Class Aircraft Carriers From France?

https://foxtrotalpha.jalopnik.com/wh...aft-1732595299

Quote:
The Russian-French Mistral Class helicopter carrier saga has been a long and rocky one. Originally the two amphibious assault ships were built for Russia, with many Russian combat systems installed, but France denied delivery after Russia seized Crimea a year and a half ago. Since then, many potential customers have been identified for the ships, but Egypt appears to be where these powerful ships will call home in the not so distant future.

The Mistral Class are pretty amazing ships. Not because they offer any sort of new capabilities that other amphibious flattops don’t, but because they offer a lot of capability for their price, costing around $700 million each. They also have much lower their operating costs when compared with say an American Wasp Class LHD, which only enhances their reputation for value.

The Russian didn't need to have access to the Egyptian Mistral, they got 450,000 pages of technical data with the French Technology transfer part of the initial deal.
