Default XXI uboat surrendering in Norway

Sorry if this have been posted before. But I just found this youtube video from Norway 1945. Not sure the date, but victory day or a few days later. This is the first time I have seen operational XXI boats on video.

I know that Herbert Werner wrote in his book "Iron Coffins" that there were some Type XXI U-Boats that made it to Norway towards the end of the war but the rest where either sunk during the crossing from Northern Germany to ports in Norway or never had a chance to leave Germany at all. There where three Type XXI U-Boats in the Elbe II bunker in Hamburg as well as some in the Fink II bunker which is now under part of the Airbus factory runway 23.

I can see 3 XXI togeter in one shot, and one single XXI in the fjord filmed two times. So it might be between 3 and 5 XXI in this short film. All of them operational and done the trip from Germany to Norway.

Well out of the 118 commissioned Type XXIs built between 1943 and 1945, U-3515, U-3514, U-3041, U-3035, U-3017, U-2518, U-2513, U-2511, U-2506, and U-2502 surrendered in Norwegian ports at the end of the war. A large number of these U-Boats where scuttled at Travemünde on the 2-3rd of May 1945. Of the 10 Type XXI U-Boats that surrendered in Norway the U-2502 was selected for testing by the Royal Navy and was later sunk during Operation Deadlight. U-2513 was secretly transferred to the United States Navy and was sunk during rocket trials on 7 October 1951 off Key West, Florida. U-2518 became part of the French Navy and renamed "Roland Morillot", was stricken 17 October 1967 and was broken up in 1969. U-2529, U-3035, U-3041, and U-3515 where allocated to the Soviet Navy by the TNC. U-2017 became Royal Navy submarine N 41, broken up Newport, Wales November 1949. U-2506, U-2511, and U-3514 where sunk as part of Operation Deadlight. Got all the info from Uboat.net. Link here: https://uboat.net/types/xxi.htm

Default Achtug! Dive ! Dive! Di.....

Here's one that didn't make it too far either to a surrender or Argentina : U-3523 found dived into the muck of the Skagerrack. https://blogs.bournemouth.ac.uk/rese...on-the-seabed/

Studying the vessel will be of immense interest to professional and amateur historians alike, not least as a way of finally putting to rest the conspiracy theory that the boat was ferrying prominent Nazis to Argentina.

It's a shame that there's only the Wilhelm Bauer aka the ex U-2540 left. I would love it if someone could figure a way to get at least one of the three that are trapped in the Elbe II bunker out and restored.
