What we really need is a Type IX. Now that would be the cat's a$$ for a mod.

it is a lot of work. The problem is not even changing the subs parameters - as far as i remember there was couple of mods that replaced regular type 7 with type 9ish specifications - the big problem is implementing brand new player unit into the game.

Even AI type 9 unit is not as much work.

Second part of the problem is changing the actual model. Anyone who at least once opened any of the type 7s player unit models in TDWs GR2 reader or even Goblin editor knows that the amount of little things that needs to be adjusted/changed/modified/converted/etc etc & etc are massive. Couple that with inability to read/write some of the GR2 files for player units, couple that with how hard it is work with GR2 units to begin with (even with amazing TDWs tool) and you get an idea of how hard it is to implement.

Now there are few people around here that can do this, but considering the amount of work and determination needed to do this is overwhelming.

Even myself, who originally started working on the topic and pretty much had a successfull type 9 AI unit implemented (except some of the GR2 models as I run into a problem of not really having much info on coning towers for type 9 anywhere) just don't have availability at this moment to work on it and give it attention it deserves.

So it is not impossible, it is, however, very very hard.

Personally I don't like swimming in boats XXI.
It's not the same atmosphere. However series II and popular "ducks". I might be tempted
