Default SH5 | WOS Career Playthrough: Karl Lünz & the crew of U-33

Hi all, starting an SH5: Wolves of Steel playthrough and thought I'd do a YT series on it. My Kaleun (Karl Lünz) is starting at the very beginning in Coastal Waters and the Type VII A.

All realism features are activated (including real navigation), with the exception of external cam and stabilize view, and I will honour a dead-is-dead policy throughout.

Here's the link to the playlist if you're interested. Cheers,

Just in the middle of watching your YouTube video.
Thought you might like to add this mod to your game.

Peter - thanks for the suggestion. I actually tried the glass covers and liked them, but found that the glass sheen obscured the dial a bit, and because I'm relying on the dials for _Everything_, I want to make sure that they are as visible as possible. With regards to your suggestion in the YT comments on the SH5 Enhanced HUD - I believe I started with this, and was trying to use the 'tape' style compass ribbon, and noticed that you can select a course with the mousewheel (if I remember right) but strangely it only went in increments of 2 deg or something, so I still couldn't get the exact course I wanted. This is similar to the problem with the dial - I can now get within a degree of what I want, but have to futz to get the exact course. The tape version was worse because I could not get the exact course always.. I am probably missing something - someone must have solved this issue - Kaleuns need order exact courses!

Thx for watching!

Thx Aktungbby. I was actually a former denizen of this board back in the SH3/GWX days - but I tried to reactivate after my long absence and the account could not be retrieved for some reason. Anyway I'm happy with a new moniker (or two) for a new decade.

Thanks for watching!

Ok - bizarre - I have no idea how I ended up with 2.2.16 rather than 2.2.17. Will update when back in port. Good to see that brighter nights is included!

Hi B
I mean't to mention that you did the whole of that first episode with Travel Mode enabled.
With Real Navigation I would advise disabling Travel Mode from TDW's OFEV HUD Tab.
Because you cannot accurately know where your boat is, with Travel Mode enabled you could easily crash your boat because you will not get any warning.
Your Navigator's accuracy can be + or - 5,000 meters from the latest map plot position depending on how the Real Navigation settings are in the Real Navigation Tab

Thx I’ll look into this. I was a little fuzzy on travel mode and how to determine even if it was activated. I was trying to be careful instead... but maybe I should deactivate. I suppose I could just unclick it in the top right or do I have to hard disable it in the mod enabler?

HiB
You will know as soon as your game loads if it is lit then it is enabled in the OFEV.
As I said with RN you really do not want to be using this as at some point it will cause you a problem.
It is a useful tool when you can see your boat on the map.

Peter
