Default Panzer Commander Fan

Panzer Commander from SSI is one of my favorite computer games but I haven't been able to play it on my newer computer, which is using Windows XP Home Edition.

The game will start but the tanks are partially transparent and the sound either skips or doesn't play at all.

From what I gather, this seems like a Direct X problem.
I went through the Direct X troubleshooting guide but the problems still persist.

Keeping in mind that I'm not the most knowlegable person when it comes to computers, Does anyone have advice on how I could get this game to play?

Much Appreciated,

For quite a while back in '98 PzC was my fave game too. I played it as soon as I came home from work until I went to bed and then again all weekends.

But alas, as soon as XP came out PzC worked no more.

It was then I gave Panzer Elite a try...and never looked back.

Anyway, apparently some players have found success by turning off the "real physics" option. It doesn't come without side effects though, but at least it may get the game running for you.

Oh, and of course, don't forget to run in Win95 compatability mode.

Looks similar to the old Panzer General 1 or Allied General, I can say Panzer General 2 runs on XP with no problems. Thanks to Skybird, you can pick up free versions of the old dos Steel Panthers series in a new look that run well on XP.

Here's a link to them and if you DL them don't forget all the patches to be done in order.

Thanks for welcoming me and for the gaming advice.

Maybe its simply time for me to find another tank sim game.
I'll start by researching the various tank sims on this website.

Again, Thanks for your responses, take care.

I just bought another copy of Panzer commander, and it works fine with Xp for me. Sadly though I think I confused Panzer Commander with panzer 44 I loved playing them both in 98.
