No tooth fairy for me ... I went to the ER and they said they couldn't help me and directed me to a specialist dentist. I didn't have any money at the time and the dentist helped me anyway, due to I was in a lot of pain, by putting my two front teeth in a cast (yes just like a broken arm or something).

Then he said don't eat anything for three months ... Do you know what it is like to drink milk shakes for three months? I do

Anyway all the other guy did was knock them up behind my other teeth and he just pushed them back into place and put the cast on it. Couldn't talk right or eat right, but they eventually grew back to normal.

Funny how teeth can do that if given the proper treatment.

A story that I have never really told anyone and was long forgotten till now.

I don't call anyone's mother a bad name anymore ... He cured me of that

I can well imagine

On the other hand at least I got to see a fair few incarcerated at Her Majesty's pleasure.

When she (the granddaughter) was dropped off by her mam (my daughter) believe you me the response made all the effort well worthwhile.

This is all farmland out here and this morning I passed a sign in a field that said "Brassicas Innovation Day"

Underwent my annual health check on 16th where because of my Type 2 Diabetes I had my weight, height, heart rate, blood pressure and three blood samples taken.

The health check was four months overdue so I naturally put that down to the pandemic and the results which I usually receive in the post a week after the event have yet to arrive so again, I put the delay down to the pandemic.

Nothing amazing there I thought but what arrived in the post the other day did surprise me....an appointment for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening.

The appointment letter states the screening is offered free of charge by the NHS to all men during their 65th year. The pamphlet accompanying the letter explaining the ultrasound scan procedure states said procedure is for men 'in the year they turn 65'

As of today I'm 63 years and 4 months of age

I will attend the appointment and guess I'll put the two age anomalies down to the pressures of the pandemic again!

Abdominal aortic aneurism... I'm aware of it & looking forward to getting my ultrasound asap, since it sounds like a pretty horrible way to die

That's what killed George C Scott at age 71...I had an artery scan approx 5 years ago, to go with my annual checkup since age two over concerns of a congenital ventricular septal defect which kept me out of the military-three times! My mom kept the MD's from experimenting on me surgically in the '50's! Never mind flying, SCUBA diving the globe from Bon Aire to Tahiti, trukkin', playing college rugby and wrestling; I'm amazed to still be kickin' at 69! Considering the newfangled procedure of two dacron patches thru the arteries to the heart defect still kills 27% in my age bracket Ma was right! ...in a corona infested hospital to boot? Methinks I'll do my remaining 'borrowed' time with medicinal vodka gimlets!

Indeed! The 50's rotozip/sternum proceedure would have made obsidian-blade Mayan priests atop pyramdid altars envious: the real irony came when I was assigned to Federal GSA-guard the MEPS recruiting office on Broadway in miserable downtown Oakland in '98...after three attempts to join three military branches: incl ROTC in the 70's; a brief stint as an ensign; and an appearance at Letterman Hospital SF in '73 for an exam for special forces; all followed by a form-letter from the Surgeon General "declining my services"...I suddenly realized: "I'm not in the military; I'm guarding the military! Be careful what you ask for!"

Ouch, that slipped under my radar. But this only means they test you for it, not that you have it? Wishing you all the best!
