It would seem that a lot of games are going this route. We either learn to work with it or spend our time with the games we have on disc that do not require nothing but a computer. I suspect the game will be playable offline. Jutlands program lets you play without a connection for up to 7 days. Does this limit the base of people who will purchase the game, sure. Probably not enough to warrant offering the game in any other format. We have to remember, this is a preliminary release. The thoughts of the consumer will be addressed and a happy medium found. I do not think how distributing the game and handling the internet connection is set in stone yet. I do not understand why there is such resistance to distributing games in this manner. It does not bother me in the least.

Shame to see Microprose go. I loved Mechwarrior 3

Until you hear about all the amazing times people who HAVE bought it are having. Then you will most likely succumb.

These arguments are almost a mirror of what was being discussed on the RSC forums regarding iracing before it went public. The true racing fans subscribed in the end.........
Unlikely I'll potter about with IL-2 and OOF mod.

Some good response here on this online play only deal:

http://riseofflight.com/Blogs/March-...!!-WTF---.aspx

I like the response that running the game like Loft wants to run the game will weed out the crazies and hackers you find in online games.

The problem is, that the players should have a choice. This online crap is "so they can update your profile with missions, kills etc.", so what if I dont want to have them updated for everyone to see? I see no real reason behind this "you have to be connected all the time" BS. Oh wait... is it to make it uncrackable? I give it 1 week tops and it's cracked.

I just wanted to see whether you have found that button too.

And you are right this game will be a no go for me!
