Default Subsim.com HELP ME

I am at work and can navigate the site with utter easy while i am here, but when I go home it takes forever to get on the site and seems so sluggish. I seriously doubt it is my computer as I have a 3.0g core 2 duo processor and plenty of memory. Is it a security thing! Help Please

I might suggest doing a pathping when you get home. Maybe there's a router between your house and subsim.com that's having problems.

I do have a router for home phone, as I use Vonage (VOIP) service. Would that be causing all my problems?

Well...I wasn't speaking about the router in your home specifically. If you were having a problem with your home router, you'd have problems with more than just subsim...including your VoIP phone. Below is my pathping results. Each hop is a different router that the packet of information has gone thru in order to get to it's final destination. As you can see...my RTT and packet loss %'s are pretty consistant.

The best way to get a new path is to get a new IP. Unplug your router and modem for the night. Of course this might cause problems with your phone service, so maybe you will be issued a new IP for simply rebooting both. You can try an IP renew through your router, but you will probably be issued the same IP so don't expect that to work too well.

He could also do a combination of both...do a pathping and with the results, call his cable or broadband provider and request a new ip. They'll know what it will do on the VoIP side.

I have never run pathping before. I am assuming that it is pretty easy and I cant fnd off the link that you provided for me. If not can you give me some tips on what it takes to run this program? I am not computer savvy but do know my way around the computer.

I have been having a few small issues with Vonage, like it dropping calls so maybe I will run the diagnostic on it tonight and see if that might be the issue. I will also hardwire the internet from wall to computer and see if that helps.

Pathping is one of the utilities that are accessed thru the command prompt.

Start
->run
-->cmd

type pathping www.subsim.com and you'll see results. Once the results come up, right click on the top blue section and pull down to edit and then select mark. Go to the upper left of the results and holding down the left button, pull down to the lower right. Right click again in the blue and select copy this time. Post the results here and delete the first ip numbers like I did (notice how they start with '2').

With you using VoIP, NEVER plug your computer directly into a broadband connection without the safety of a router between the two...you're just begging for someone to hack your system this way.

So I get home and am going through the basic just to make I didnt goof something up. Well lets say I was puzzled at first but figured it out.

So the story goes:

I was outside about two weeks ago and noticed that one my neghbors was moving out of our Townhouse division. A couple of days later my interenet decides to take a dump. I called the internet company and they scheduled a guy to come out after about 30 mintues on the phone with them trying to figure it out. All they could figure out was I didnt have internet, well duh thats why I called. So the cable guy and I are out their looking at things and just couldnt figure it out. Then it dons on me and I tell the cable guy that someone moved out two days ago, which is about when my internet went out. We did some test and found out they came and disconnected my internet instead of theirs. Low and behold we never restored the settings for the network connections.

I am currently on the site and it is running much better!

Glad that it was that simple!

Granted, from what you originally described, I'm surprised you were able to have your phone service since it utilizes the ip address given by your cable company.

I will be honest I know little about it. I got it over four years ago when they were hot**** and new. My best friend had it and hooked it all up for me and since then I really havent had to so anything else with it. Granted, now the compnay is about to go tits up and their customer service is horrible. But I am not changing until I have too. I have looked in to clearwire and it is a great option but not worth the upfront costs for me right now
